Abstract
Form of procrastination that students often carry out is academic procrastination, namely delaying in doing their coursework. Someone tends to approach things that are fun and make them happy; one example is dating. The ability to regulate emotions and a good level of academic locus of control can prevent a student from committing acts of academic procrastination. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional regulation and academic locus of control with academic procrastination among students who are dating. This study uses a quantitative approach with correlational methods. The instruments in this study used the Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS) measuring tool compiled by Solomon & Rothblum (1984), the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), which was developed from Gross and John's theory (2003), and the Revision of the Academic Locus of Control. Scale for College Students (ALC-R) revised version of the 1985 Academic Locus of Control Trice scale. The subjects in this study were dating students studying at the JABODETABEK university, totaling 429 people. The results showed a significant negative relationship between emotional regulation and academic procrastination of dating students, and a significant negative relationship between academic locus of control and academic procrastination of dating students. However, the researchers found dimensions that were not significantly correlated in the areas of procrastination dimension with emotion regulation variables and academic locus of control variables. Hopefully, this research can become a reference for further similar research. Keywords: Academic Procrastination, Emotion Regulation, Academic Locus of Control, Dating Students Bentuk prokrastinasi yang sering dilakukan oleh mahasiswa adalah prokrastinasi akademik, yakni melakukan penundaan dalam mengerjakan tugas kuliah. Seseorang cenderung untuk mendekati hal yang menyenangkan dan membuatnya bahagia, salah satu contohnya adalah berpacaran. Kemampuan meregulasi emosi serta tingkat academic locus of control yang baik dapat menghindarkan seorang mahasiswa melakukan tindakan prokrastinasi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan antara regulasi emosi dan academic locus of control dengan prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa yang berpacaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS) yang disusun oleh Solomon & Rothblum (1984), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) yang dikembangkan dari teori Gross dan John (2003), dan Revision of the Academic Locus of Control Scale for College Students (ALC-R) versi revisi dari skala Academic Locus of Control Trice tahun 1985. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa berpacaran yang berkuliah di universitas JABODETABEK yang berjumlah 429 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara regulasi emosi dengan prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa yang berpacaran serta terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara academic locus of control dengan prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa yang berpacaran. Namun peneliti mendapati adanya dimensi yang tidak berkorelasi signifikan pada dimensi areas of procrastination dengan variabel regulasi emosi dan variabel academic locus of control.
