Abstract

The implementation of LTE technology in Indonesia is still being carried out and the network deployment continues to reach all regions in Indonesia. However, there are several factors that affect the development of LTE networks, one of which is the limited frequency provided in Indonesia. To solve this problem, 3GPP released carrier aggregation technology used in LTE-Advanced networks in release 10 to maximize the use of frequency spectrum and increase throughput. In this final project, a comparison of LTE-Advanced network performance with inter-band carrier aggregation and intra-band carrier aggregation methods is carried out using bandwidth 20 MHz in frequency of 1800 MHz and bandwidth 20 MHz in frequency of 2300 MHz and supports two types of duplexing, TDD and FDD. To see the network improvement, a simulation of the non CA 20 MHz LTE network was also carried out at frequency of 1800 MHz. The results of the CA simulation based on a predetermined scenario, show that CA technology can significantly increase the throughput value. The results of this Final Project also show that intra-band CA method of 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz with a maximum aggregated bandwidth of 40 MHz is more optimal, resulting in an RSRP value of -68.8 dBm, SINR of 14.2 dB and throughput 6.013 kbps. Keywords: LTE-Advanced, Carrier Aggregation, frequency spectrum, performance Penerapan teknologi LTE di Indonesia masih terus dilakukan dan penyebaran jaringannya terus dilakukan untuk menjangkau seluruh daerah di Indonesia. Namun salah ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi pengembangan jaringan LTE, salah satunya adalah keterbatasan frekuensi yang disediakan di Indonesia. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, 3GPP mengeluarkan teknologi carrier aggregation yang digunakan pada jaringan LTE-Advanced pada release 10 untuk memaksimalkan penggunaan spektrum frekuensi dan meningkatkan throughput. Pada Tugas Akhir ini dilakukan perbandingan performasi jaringan LTEAdvanced dengan metode inter-band carrier aggregation dan intra-band carrier aggregation pada bandwidth 20 MHz frekuensi 1800 MHz dan bandwidth 20 MHz frekuensi 2300 MHz dan mendukung dua tipe duplexing, yaitu TDD dan FDD. Untuk melihat peningkatan jaringan, dilakukan juga simulasi jaringan LTE non CA 20 MHz pada frekuensi 1800 MHz. Hasil dari simulasi CA berdasarkan scenario yang telah ditentukan dengan memperhatikan kondisi awal jaringan, menunjukkan bahwa teknologi CA dapat meningkatkan nilai throughput secara signifikan. Hasil Tugas Akhir ini juga menunjukkan bahwa teknologi CA yang lebih optimal adalah dengan menggunakan metode intra-band CA 1800 MHz dan 2300 MHz dengan aggregated bandwidth yang lebih maksimal yaitu 40 MHz menghasilkan nilai RSRP -68,8 dBm, SINR sebesar 14,2 dB dan throughput 6.013 kbps.
