Abstract

This study aims to determine the background of the establishment of the Indonesian World Record Museum, the management and promotion of the Indonesian World Record Museum, the obstacles encountered in promoting the Indonesian World Record Museum. This writing is presented in a descriptive form to obtain an overview of information relating to the Indonesian World Record museum as a potential for historical tourism in Semarang. Data collection methods using observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. The results showed that the background of the establishment of the Indonesian World Record Museum was to record the history of Semarang City. The Indonesian World Record Museum promotion used verbally, print and electronic media as a support for tourism promotion. Constraints faced by the Indonesian World Record Museum are funds for promotion and damaged collections of objects in the museum because visitors use these objects to take pictures and want to feel how to use these objects. The conclusion of this research is that the Indonesian World Record Museum still has the potential to be developed as a tourist destination in Semarang because of its strategic location and easy access to affordable Indonesian World Record Museum Managers through the role of the government as an operational funding provider to hold events to attract visitors so that obstacles faced and problems in managing the museum can be overcome through increasing the number of visitors. Keywords: Museum, Record, Semarang Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang didirikannya Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia, pengelolaan dan promosi Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia, kendala yang dihadapi dalam mempromosikan Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia. Penulisan ini disajikan dalam bentuk deskriptif untuk memperoleh gambaran informasi berhubungan dengan Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia sebagai potensi wisata sejarah di Semarang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa latar belakang didirikannya Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia untuk merekam perjalanan sejarah Kota Semarang.Promosi Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia menggunakan secara lisan, media cetak serta media elektronik sebagai penunjang promosi wisata. Kendala yang dihadapi Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia yaitu dana untuk promosi serta rusak nya koleksi-koleksi benda di museum karena pengunjung menggunakan benda-benda tersebut untuk berfoto dan ingin merasakan bagaimana menggunakan benda tersebut. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia masih sangat berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai daerah tujuan wisata di Semarang karena lokasinya strategis serta mudah memiliki aksesibilitas terjangkau Pengelola Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia melalui peran pemerintah sebagai pemberi dana operasional dapat menyelenggarakan event-event untuk menarik pengujung sehingga kendala yang dihadapi dan permasalahan dalam pengelolaan museum dapat teratasi melalui peningkatan jumlah pengunjung.
