Abstract

This study aims to find out and explain the relationship between internet addiction and emotional intelligence in middle adolescents in the District of Sepatan, Tangerang. A sample of 402 respondents are teenagers who live in Tangerang. The sampling method used the accidental sampling method. The measuring instrument used is the Young Internet Addiction Test Scale from Young, (1996) and emotional intelligence from Goleman (2002). Based on the results of the correlation test between internet addiction and emotional intelligence, it can be seen if the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 and has a correlation coefficient of 0.758 because of the sig. (0.000) 0.01 is said if there is a significant positive bond between internet addiction and emotional intelligence. the level between internet addiction and emotional intelligence is included in the category of strong correlation. So it can be concluded that in the correlation test there is a positive bond between internet addiction and emotional intelligence with a strong and significant correlation. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta memaparkan hubungan adiksi internet dengan kecerdasan emosional pada remaja tengah di Kecamatan Sepatan Tangerang. Sample sebanyak 402 responden merupakan remaja usiao 16-18 tahun yang berdomisi di Kecamatan Seapatan Tangerang. Metode pengambilan sample menggunakan metode accidental sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan merupakan skala adiksi internet dari Young (1996) dan skala kecerdasan emosional dari Goleman (2002). Bersumber dari hasil korelasi antara adiksi internet dan juga kecerdsan emosional, dapat diketahui jika nilai Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0.000 dan memiliki nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.758 Karna nilai sig (0.000) 0.01 sampai dapat dikatakan ada ikatan yang positif dan signifikan antara adiki internet dengan kecerdasan emosional. Tingkatan ikatan antara adiksi internet dengan kecerdsan emosional tercantum dalam kategori korelasi kuat. Jadi dapat disimpulkan dalam uji korelasi terdapat ikatan positif antara adiksi internet dengan kecerdasan emosional dengan korelasi kuat.
