Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of social media addiction on the level of fear of missing out in emerging adulthood of social media users (Instagram). Fear of Missing out is a sense of anxiety that arises when a person might miss an interesting activity presented by another person or his friend, which is shared on social media. This study involved 213 respondents of emerging adulthood Instagram users obtained through accidental sampling techniques. The method of data collection uses a social media addiction measurement tool consisting of the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale as well as using the Fear of Missing Out Scale to measure an individual's FOMO level. The data were analyzed using a simple linear regression technique using the help of SPSS 24 software. The results showed that social media addiction has an influence on individual FOMO, with an effect value of 34.6% Keywords: social media addiction, fear of missing out, Instagram Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecanduan media sosial terhadap tingkat fear of missing out pada emerging adulthood pengguna media sosial (Instagram). Fear of Missing out adalah rasa kecemasan yang timbul ketika seseorang mungkin melewatkan kegiatan menarik yang dihadirkan oleh orang lain atau temannya, yang dibagikan di media sosial Penelitian ini melibatkan 213 responden emerging adulthood pengguna Instagram yang diperoleh melalui teknik accidental sampling. Pengumpalan data menggunakan alat ukur kecanduan media sosial yang terdiri dari Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale serta menggunakan Fear of Missing Out Scale untuk mengukur tingkat FOMO individu. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik regresi linear sederhana dengan menggunakan bantuan software SPSS 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kecanduan media sosial memiliki pengaruh terhadap FOMO individu, dengan nilai pengaruh sebesar 34,6%.
