Abstract

Intercultural communication does not only take place in the community but also occurs in the campus environment or educational environment which also consists of a group of people who have different cultures. One example is in several campuses located in Bandung, West Java which of course contains many students from various regions with different cultures. Within the campus environment, there must be interaction between fellow students or other elements of education that exist within the campus. Interaction here of course can be done easily by communicating. This research aims to find out how the process of intercultural communication occurs for students from Jakarta who study in Bandung to find answers to the success or failure of the adaptation process to the university environment in Bandung. This study uses the basis of the Communication Process Theory according to Harold Lasswell which describes the communication process with Who says what In which Channel To Whom With What Effect. The paradigm in this research is Constructivism, with a case study qualitative research method. The research subjects consisted of three students from Jakarta who studied in Bandung, and three students from Bandung. The primary data collection technique was carried out by in-depth interviews. Data analysis technique in this research is qualitative data analysis technique. The results in this study indicate that the process of intercultural communication that occurs in students from Jakarta who study in Bandung with students from Bandung is still conveyed well even though there are a few misunderstandings but it does not cause big problems. The communication process is carried out using Indonesian. In adapting, the students from Jakarta were declared successful. This can be measured from the acceptance of students from Bandung with students from Jakarta and the time period for the adaptation process of students from Jakarta is still in the adaptation period according to the u-curve theory. Sistem pembelajaran yang menggunakan kecanggihan teknologi adalah sistem elearning, salah satu bentuk pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan teknologi dan tidak dibatasi ruang dan waktu. E-learning merupakan salah satu bentuk konsep pembelajaran jarak jauh. Sebagai bentuk model pembelajaran yang inovatif,e-learning memiliki kelebihan antara lain memberikan pengalaman belajar yang berbeda sehingga dapat mengatasi kejenuhan dan kebosanan dalam pembelajaran dengan metode biasa dan membentuk kesadaran belajar mandiri, selain itu model pembelajaran jarak jauh ini juga memiliki kekurangan. Berkaitan dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh perlu diperhatikan hubungan antara dosen dengan mahasiswa serta mahasiswa dan mahasiswa dalam berkomunikasi. Hubungan antara dosen dengan mahasiswa atau mahasiswa dan mahasiswa tidak harmonis dapat menimbulkan komunikasi interpersonal yang buruk. Pendekatan konseptual yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Komunikasi Interpersonal dari Joseph A Devito menjelaskan Beberapa dimensi komunikasi interpersonal yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh antara lain adalah keterbukaan (openness) dan rasa positif (positiveness). Keterbukaan, sebagai komunikator harus terbuka dengan komunikan, dan kemauan komunikator untuk bereaksi secara jujur terhadap rangsangan yang datang. Sedangkan untuk perasaan positif (positiveness), pelaku komunikasi harus memiliki perasaan positif terhadap dirinya sendiri, mendorong orang lain untuk lebih aktif, dan menciptakan situasi komunikasi yang kondusif untuk interaksi yang efektif. Dengan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif, populasi dalam penelitian ini Peneliti akan melakukan survei terhadap mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Mercu Buana yang merupakan fakultas unggulan dan telah terakreditasi A. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara Pengaruh Efektifitas Komunikasi Interpersonal terhadap Proses Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh . Berdasarkan uji regresi yang telah dilakukan diperoleh nilai R square sebesar 0,357. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa efektivitas komunikasi internal berpengaruh terhadap proses pembelajaran jarak jauh sebesar 12,8% dan terdapat 87,2% dipengaruhi oleh variable lain diluar penelitian.
