Abstract

The relationship between Self Esteem and Optimism Fresh Graduate Regular 1 Universitas Mercu Buana Kranggan in the face of competition in the world of work in the midst of a pandemic Pipit Rahmawati Universitas Mercu Buana ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Self Esteem and Freshgraduate optimism in facing the competition in the world of work in the midst of a pandemic. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling in the form of purposive sampling. Data collection uses the Self Esteem scale, namely the Rosernberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) which has been adapted by Maroqi Nelan (2018) and the optimism scale which refers to the theory of Martien E. Seligman which has been adapted by Adilia (2010). Data analysis in this study used the rank spearman correlation technique. The results of the rank spearman correlation test showed a positive relationship with a correlation of 0.590 and a significance value of (p = 0.000 <0.05). These results mean that the higher the self-esteem of fresh graduates, the higher the optimism of fresh graduates in facing the competition in the world of work in the midst of a pandemic. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan non-probability sampling yang berupa purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala Self Esteem yaitu Rosernberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) yang sudah diadaptasi oleh Maroqi Nelan (2018) dan skala optimisme yaing mengacu pada teori Martien E. Seligman yang sudah diadaptasi oleh Adilia (2010). Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik rank spearman correlation. Hasil uji rank spearman correlation menunjukan adanya hubungan yang positif dengan korelasi sebesar 0,590 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar (p= 0,000 < 0,05). Hasil tersebut memiliki makna bahwa semakin tinggi self esteem yang dimiliki oleh freshgraduate maka semakin tingii pula optimisme oleh freshgraduate dalam menghadapi persaingan dunia kerja ditengah pandemi.
