Abstract

Thermal comfort in the class room affects for productivity and students performance. One of the factors which affect the thermal comfort in the classroom is the orientation of the building. Based of the problems, the author intends to study about thermal comfort in the same identical classroom but different of Orientation. This research used quantitative methods with descriptive analysis. This research processed the data questionnaire, and the measurement data of thermal conditions, which include, air temperature, air humidity, surface temperature, and wind speed. To analyze thermal comfort the authors used PMV and PPD programs. The results of the study descibed that Classrooms with Western Orientation had a maximum temperature of 3.26 ° C higher than the Classrooms with North Orientation. Keywords: Building Orientation, Thermal Comfort, Classrooms, Room temperature Kenyamanan termal di dalam ruang kelas memengaruhi produktivitas dan kinerja siswa dalam belajar. Salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi kenyamanan termal di dalam ruang kelas adalah orientasi bangunan terhadap matahari. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis bermaksud untuk mengkaji kenyamanan termal ruang kelas yang identik sama namun berbeda orientasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan analisa deskriptif. Adapun data yang diolah adalah data kuisioner, dan data pengukuran kondisi termal, yang meliputi, suhu udara, kelembaban udara, suhu permukaan, dan kecepatan angin. Untuk menganalisa kenyamanan termal digunakan program PMV dan PPD. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa Ruang Kelas dengan Orientasi Barat memiliki suhu maksimal 3,26°C lebih tinggi, dibandingkan dengan Ruang Kelas dengan Orientasi Utara.
