Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the extraordinary events in the 21st century. Therefore, people need credible and reliable news from a media. One of the media that provides various kinds of news about COVID-19 is LINE TODAY. Therefore, this study aims to find out about the level of satisfaction of Broadcasting 2020 students with COVID-19 news on the LINE TODAY application. The theory used in this research is uses and gratification which assumes that the audience has their own way of choosing the media that will be used for daily consumption. The needs of the audience are divided into the need for information, personal identity, social interaction, and entertainment. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The population in this study were students of Broadcasting 2020 Universitas Mercu Buana with a sample of 51 respondents who were taken using purposive sampling. Based on the Likert Scale used in this study, it can be seen that the level of satisfaction of Broadcasting students for the class of 2020 with COVID-19 news in the LINE TODAY application as a whole occurs on the information dimension, which is 75 percent with a mean value of 3.75. Overall, the research on the analysis of the level of satisfaction on the LINE TODAY media on the news of the COVID-19 virus (a survey of students/i Broadcasting 2020 Universitas Mercu Buana) is High/Positive. Keywords: LINE TODAY, Uses and Gratification Theory, Analysis. Pandemi COVID-19 merupakan salah satu kejadian luar biasa di abad ke-21 ini. Oleh karena itu, masyarakat membutuhkan berita yang kredibel dan terpercaya dari sebuah media. Salah satu media yang menyediakan berbagai macam berita mengenai COVID-19 adalah LINE TODAY. Oleh karena itulah penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa/i Broadcasting 2020 terhadap berita COVID-19 di aplikasi LINE TODAY. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uses and gratification yang mengansumsikan bahwa khalayak memiliki cara tersendiri untuk memilih media yang akan digunakan sebagai konsumsi sehari-hari. Kebutuhan khalayak tersebut dibagi atas kebutuhan dalam memperoleh informasi, identitas pribadi, interaksi sosial, dan hiburan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei menggunakan kuisioner sebagai insrumen pengumpulan datanya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa/i Broadcasting 2020 Universitas Mercu Buana dengan sampel 51 responden yang diambil menggunakan purposive sampling. Berdasarkan Skala Likert yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa/i Broadcasting angkatan 2020 terhadap berita COVID-19 di aplikasi LINE TODAY secara keseluruhan terjadi pada dimensi informasi yaitu sebesar 75 persen dengan nilai mean 3,75. Secara keseluruhan penelitian tentang analisis tingkat kepuasan pada media LINE TODAY terhadap berita virus COVID-19 (survei kepada mahasiswa/i Broadcasting 2020 Universitas Mercu Buana) adalah Tinggi/Positif.
