Abstract
Backpack is a type of garment product which basically functions as a temporary container for goods that a person need in a day. Backpack has the potential to be developed to accommodate other needs, more than just a daily luggage/temporary container. The author observes the decreasing need, even habit, of carrying umbrellas on those who frequently travel by public transportation. Geographically, Indonesia is located on the Equator with high chance of rainfall in a certain period, therefore the author see the need of protection from rain for users who have high mobility, as well as users of public transportation, and those who start to rarely or even never carry an umbrella in their daypacks. Thus the idea of "Flippack Rolltop Jacket" born, which is made as a solution for potential users who want to protect themselves from the exposure of whether light to moderate-level rainfall, in a practical and stylish manner without the need to carry an umbrella. This product is made based on research and material exploration which concludes that a fabric with a specific set of characteristic is needed in order to achieve a specific goal, in this case: protection against exposure of rainfall. In collaboration with one of the local bag garment manufacturers, the author intends to actualize a product which is a fusion of jacket and backpack that can be accepted by a broad user segment. Keywords: bag, rolltop, jacket, waterproof, fashionable Tas adalah salah satu produk garmen yang pada dasarnya berfungsi sebagai wadah penyimpanan sementara untuk barang bawaan yang menjadi kebutuhan seseorang dalam satu hari. Tas memiliki potensi yang bisa dikembangkan untuk mengkomodasi kebutuhan lain, tidak hanya sebagai peranti yang dapat menjadi wadah penyimpanan barang bawaan saja. Penulis mengamati menurunnya kebutuhan atau bahkan kebiasaan membawa payung pada mereka yang sering bepergian dengan transportasi umum. Mengiringi fakta bahwa Indonesia berada di garis Khatulistiwa dengan curah hujan yang cukup tinggi, penulis melihat adanya kebutuhan perlindungan dari hujan untuk pengguna yang punya mobilitas tinggi, sekaligus pengguna transportasi umum dan mulai jarang atau bahkan tidak pernah membawa payung sama sekali. Produk tugas akhir “Flippack Rolltop Jacket (Tas Punggung Rolltop dengan Ekstensi Jaket)” ini dibuat sebagai solusi bagi pengguna yang ingin melindungi dirinya dari terpaan hujan di tingkat ringan hingga sedang, secara praktis dan stylish tanpa perlu membawa payung. Produk ini dibuat berdasarkan riset eksplorasi material yang bersifat waterproof dan paling efektif untuk diaplikasikan ke tas yang dimaksud. Bekerja sama dengan salah satu produsen garmen tas lokal, penulis berniat untuk mewujudkan produk tas fusion jaket yang dapat diterima oleh segmen pengguna yang luas.
