Abstract

Humans are social creatures who always depend on each other. In life, humans tend to gather in same sphere/scope called the organization. An organization is a group of people who are together under the same auspices with the same goal. Organizations can run well and smoothly when they have a leader who is qualified enough to carry out their role. As a leader, his communication style becomes an important part of the organization's journey. The communication style shown by the leader can be a middle ground for conflicts that arise in the organization. HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 is an organization under the auspices of the Department of Public Relations at Mercu Buana University. In one period, HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 can have several work programs to be carried out. During the process, the management of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 experienced internal conflicts and the resolution was carried out jointly or directly by the head of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021. The purpose of this study is to determine the organizational communication style of the chairman of the Mercu Buana University Public Relations Student Association in conflict resolution. This study uses the main theory of organizational communication with the concept used is communication style. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviewing the head of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021, the Coordinator of the Internal Public Relations division and the Coordinator of the External Public Relations division. The reason for choosing the three as resource persons was because they were directly involved in the management. The results showed that the chairman of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 was chosen because he had a leadership spirit and earned the trust of other administrators. The Head of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 in carrying out his role has a two-way communication style or the equalitarian style where this communication style shows effectiveness in communicating and maintains a sense of empathy and builds good cooperation. This communication style is used by the head of HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 in all available opportunities. Like, when internal conflicts arise. Keywords: Communication Style, Organizational Communication, HIMA PR, Conflict. Manusia merupakan makhluk sosial yang selalu bergantung antara satu sama lain. Dalam kehidupan, manusia cenderung berkumpul dalam satu lingkup yang disebut organisasi. Organisasi merupakan sekelompok orang yang bersama-sama berada dalam satu naungan dengan tujuan yang sama. Organisasi dapat berjalan dengan baik dan lancar ketika memiliki seorang pemimpin yang cukup mumpuni untuk menjalankan perannya. Sebagai seorang pemimpin, gaya komunikasi nya menjadi satu bagian penting dalam perjalanan organisasi. Gaya komunikasi yang ditunjukkan pemimpin dapat menjadi jalan tengah bagi konflik-konflik yang muncul di dalam organisasi. HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 adalah organisasi dibawah naungan bidang studi Public Relations Universitas Mercu Buana. Dalam satu periode, HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 dapat memiliki beberapa program kerja yang akan dijalankan. Selama prosesnya, pengurus HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 mengalami konflik-konflik internal dan penyelesaiannya dilakukan bersama ataupun langsung oleh ketua HIMA PR periode 2020/2021. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gaya komunikasi organisasi ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa Public Relations Universitas Mercu Buana dalam penyelesaian konflik. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori utama komunikasi organisasi dengan konsep yang digunakan adalah mengenai gaya komunikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara terhadap ketua HIMA PR periode 2020/2021, Koordinator divisi Humas Internal dan Koodinator divisi Humas Eksternal. Alasan pemilihan ketiganya sebagai narasumber, karena terlibat langsung dalam kepengurusan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketua HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 dipilih karena memiliki jiwa kepemimpinan dan mendapatkan kepercayaan dari pengurus lainnya. Ketua HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 dalam menjalankan perannya memiliki gaya komunikasi dua arah atau the equalitarian style dimana gaya komunikasi ini menunjukkan kebaikan dalam berkomunikasi serta memelihara rasa empati dan membangun kerja sama yang baik. Gaya komunikasi ini digunakan oleh ketua HIMA PR periode 2020/2021 dalam semua kesempatan yang ada. Seperti, disaat konflik-konflik internal muncul.
