Abstract

Political communication is a means for candidates to achieve political goals. Each candidate equips himself with effective communication in order to create consensus. Gibran in his nomination for Mayor of Solo in 2020 builds political communication to get recommendations for candidacy. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze Gibran's political communication in fighting for the decision of the PDI-P DPP. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The paradigm in this study is a critical paradigm with an analysis of the perspective of communicative action theory from Jürgen Habermas. In this study, the authors collected data from various sources. Research data consists of primary data and secondary data. Primary data in the form of interviews, observations and documentation. While secondary data in the form of documents, reports and literature studies from books, journals, mass media and the results of previous research. The informants in this study were Gibran and PDI-P actors from the Solo Branch Executive Board, Central Java Regional Leadership Council and the Central Executive Board. The result of this research is that Gibran builds a topdown political communication pattern through consultation with the PDI -P DPP. This communication pattern benefits Gibran because the PDI-P DPP applies monological communication to the Solo PDI-P DPC and Achmad Purnomo. The elitist approach carried out by Gibran does not show communication rational action in accordance with Jurgen Habermas's view but rather purposive rational action. Meanwhile, the millennial image and the perception of the president's children make it easier for Gibran. Moreover, President Joko Widodo is a PDI-P cadre so the consensus in the nomination recommendations does not represent a dialogical communication in accordance with Jurgen Habermas's view. The elitist approach carried out by Gibran does not show communication rational action in accordance with Jurgen Habermas's view but rather purposive rational action. Meanwhile, the millennial image and the perception of the president's children make it easier for Gibran. Moreover, President Joko Widodo is a PDI-P cadre so the consensus in the nomination recommendations does not represent a dialogical communication in accordance with Jurgen Habermas's view. Komunikasi politik menjadi sarana bagi kandidat untuk meraih tujuan politik. Setiap kandidat membekali dirinya dengan komunikasi yang efektif guna terciptanya konsensus. Gibran dalam pencalonan Walikota Solo tahun 2020 membangun komunikasi politik untuk mendapatkan rekomendasi pencalonan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis komunikasi politik Gibran dalam memperjuangkan keputusan DPP PDI Perjuangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Paradigma dalam penelitian ini adalah paradigma kritis dengan analisis perspektif teori tindakan komunikatif dari Jürgen Habermas. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis mengumpulkan data dari berbagai sumber. Data penelitian terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer berupa wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan data sekunder berupa dokumen, laporan serta studi literatur dari buku, jurnal, media massa dan hasil penelitian terdahulu. Adapun informan dalam penelitian ini yakni Gibran dan aktor PDI Perjuangan dari tingkat Dewan Pimpinan Cabang Solo, Dewan Pimpinan Daerah Jawa Tengah serta Dewan Pimpinan Pusat. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu Gibran membangun pola komunikasi politik top down melalui konsultasi dengan DPP PDI Perjuangan. Pola komunikasi tersebut menguntungkan Gibran dikarenakan DPP PDI Perjuangan menerapkan komunikasi monologis terhadap DPC PDI Perjuangan Solo dan Achmad Purnomo. Pendekatan elitis yang dijalankan oleh Gibran tidak menunjukkan communication rational action sesuai dengan pandangan Jurgen Habermas tetapi lebih kepada purposive rational action. Sementara itu, citra milenial dan persepsi anak presiden memberikan kemudahan bagi Gibran. Apalagi Presiden Joko Widodo adalah kader PDI Perjuangan sehingga konsensus dalam rekomendasi pencalonan tidak merepresentasikan komunikasi dialogis sesuai dengan pandangan Jurgen Habermas
