Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Public Relations Coconut Island Carita Resort in building a positive company image to the community of Caringin Village, Pandeglang, Banten, West Java due to the rejection of a 3-star hotel development plan by a private company, namely PT Pulau Kelapa Carita or better known as Coconut. Island Carita Resort located around Caringin Pantai Beach The theories and concepts used in this research are the theory of the role of Public Relations as (1) expert advisor, (2) communication facilitator, (3) problem solving process facilitator, and (4) communication techniques and concepts of building image with points: (1) Details of situation analysis and communication audit, (2) Determining the purpose and time, (3) Determining the target audience (4) Determining job descriptions for all personnel involved, (5) Supporting media facilities, (6) Budgeting to planning tasks, (7) Checking, and (8) Analyzing the results (evaluation) of the implementation to achieve the ultimate goal (target) of Public Relations. The paradigm used in this research is the constructivist paradigm, which is a paradigm that is almost the antithesis of understanding that puts observation and objectivity in discovering a reality or science. The research method used is a case study as a research method that uses in-depth analysis. Case studies are included in descriptive analysis research, namely research conducted focused on a particular case to be observed and analyzed carefully to completion. Based on the purpose of this study, the researchers used a qualitative approach to obtain data. The result of this research is the role of Public Relations to build a positive image with the residents of Caringin Village by means of effective communication in the form of discussions between companies and residents to reach a mutual agreement. Keywords: Hotel, Public Relations Role, Image vi Carita Resort dalam membangun citra positif perusahaan kepada masyarakat Desa Caringin, Kabupaten Pandeglang, Banten, Jawa Barat akibat penolakan rencana pembangunan hotel bintang 3 oleh perusahaan swasta yakni, PT Pulau Kelapa Carita atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Coconut Island Carita Resort yang terletak di sekitaran Pantai Caringin Teori dan konsep yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori peran Public Relations sebagai (1) Penasihat ahli, (2) Fasilitator komunikasi, (3) Fasilitator proses pemecah masalah, dan (4) Teknik komunikasi dan konsep membangun citra dengan poin: (1) Perincian analisis situasi dan audit komunikasi, (2) Menentukan tujuan dan waktu, (3) Menentukan sasaran khalayak (target audience) (4) Menentukan job description bagi semua personel yang terlibat, (5) Dukungan sarana media, (6) Anggaran hingga perencanaan tugas, (7) Pengecekan, dan (8) Menganalisis hasil (evaluasi) dari pelaksanaan untuk mencapai tujuan akhir (target) dari Public Relations. Paradigma yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah paradigma konstuktivistik yaitu paradigma yang hamper merupakan antithesis dari pemahaman yang meletakkan pengamatan dan objektivitas dalam menemukan suatu realitas atau ilmu pengetahuan. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus sebagai metode penelitian yang menggunakan analisis mendalam. Studi kasus termasuk dalam penelitian analisis deskriptif, yaitu penelitian yang dilakukan terfokus pada suatu kasus tertentu untuk diamati dan dianalisis secara cermat sampai tuntas. Berdasarkan tujuan dari penelitian ini, maka peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk memperoleh data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah peran Public Relations untuk membangun Citra Positif dengan warga Desa Caringin dengan cara melakukan komunikasi efektif berupa diskusi antara perusahaan dan warga untuk mencapai kesepakatan bersama.
