Abstract

The need for electrical energy is a vital need that cannot be separated from the life of all aspects of life. PLN as a national-scale electricity provider or it can also be called the main power supply is not always continuous in the distribution process to customers, in some conditions at one time there will be blackouts either because of the transmission or distribution system. So that to maintain the continuity of electrical energy, additional or backup power supply sources are needed along with a control unit that is able to take over the load automatically. Design and Build Prototype of Automatic Change Over Switch System for PT. Kangar Consolidated Industries in his research uses the Arduino Mega controller as the controller of the system which has a function to transfer the load from PLN to UPS and Genset as a backup power supply. The use of UPS aims to reduce the time lag when switching from PLN to Genset so that the voltage source remains on standby until the generator operates according to its specifications. Keywords : ACOS, Arduino Mega, Control Unit, UPS. Kebutuhan energi listrik merupakan suatu kebutuhan vital yang tidak bisa terlepaskan dari kehidupan segala aspek kehidupan. PLN sebagai penyedia energi listrik berskala nasional atau bisa juga disebut catu daya utama tidak selamanya kontinu dalam melakukan proses distribusi ke pelanggan, dalam beberapa kondisi disuatu waktu pasti terjadi pemadaman baik itu karena sistem transmisi atau distribusi. Sehingga untuk menjaga kontinuitas energi listrik diperlukan sumber catu daya tambahan atau cadangan beserta unit kontrol yang mampu mengambil alih beban secara otomatis. Rancang Bangun Prototipe Sistem Automatic Change Over Switch Untuk Gardu PT. Kangar Consolidated Industries dalam penelitiannya menggunakan kontroler Arduino Mega sebagai pengendali dari sistem tersebut yang memiliki fungsi untuk memindahkan beban dari PLN ke UPS dan Genset sebagai catu daya cadangan. Penggunaan UPS bertujuan untuk mengurangi jeda waktu saat peralihan dari PLN ke Genset agar sumber tegangan tetap standby sampai genset beroperasi maksimal sesuai spesifikasinya.
