Abstract
ABSTRACT Individuals with phubbing problems might be vulnerable to excessive use of cyber-technological devices, such as smartphones. The study aims to see the influence of smartphone addiction to phubbing in Generation Z. The measuring instrument used is the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) developed by Kwon et al. (2013) and the Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) developed by Chotpitayasunondh and Douglas (2018). Both of these scales were tested for validity through expert judgement and reliability testing with alpha cronbach. SAS Reliability Score is 0.912 and GSP reliability score is 0.819. SAS has 32 items and GSP has 15 items. A total of 220 people including 86 men and 134 women who are generation Z and have a smartphone in the city of Bekasi, who participated in this study. They filled both scales in the form of questionnaires. The research method uses quantitative design, the sampling technique uses probability sampling with convenience sampling type. The data analysis using linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that smartphone addiction has a significant effect (p 0,000 <0.05) of 19.5% on phubbing behavior in generation Z in Bekasi. While 80.5% of phubbing behavior is influenced by other factors. In addition, all SAS dimensions have a significant effect on GSP (p 0,000 <0.05). Keywords : Smartphone, Addiction, Phubbing, Generation Z ABSTRAK Individu dengan perilaku phubbing mungkin rentan terhadap penggunaan yang berlebihan akan perangkat teknologi siber seperti smartphone. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh adiksi smartphone terhadap phubbing pada generasi Z. Alat ukur yang digunakan yaitu Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) dikembangkan oleh Kwon et al. (2013) dan Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) dikembangkan oleh Chotpitayasunondh dan Douglas (2018). Kedua skala tersebut dilakukan uji validitas melalui expert judgement dan uji reliabilitas dengan alpha cronbach. Reliabilitas SAS sebesar 0.912 dan GSP sebesar 0.819. SAS memiliki 32 item dan GSP memiliki 15 item. Sebanyak 220 orang diantaranya 86 orang laki-laki dan 134 orang perempuan yang merupakan generasi Z dan memiliki smartphone di Kota Bekasi yang menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Mereka mengisi kedua alat ukur dalam bentuk kuesioner. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif, teknik sampling menggunakan probability sampling dan menggunakan tipe convenience sampling. Analisa data menggunakan analisis regresi linear. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa smartphone addiction memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan (p 0.000 < 0.05) sebesar 19,5% terhadap perilaku phubbing pada generasi Z di Kota Bekasi. Sedangkan 80,5% perilaku phubbing dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain. Selain itu, semua dimensi SAS memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada GSP (p 0.000 < 0.05).
