Abstract
The steps in the design of new products are crucial to make successful in the New Product Development (NPD). NPD stages can refer litereratur of several books including the Product Design & Development by Karl T Ulrich and Steven D Eppinger, who have been widely used by previous researchers to design a product. Voice of Customer can used as a guidance during design the new product of hand wash. The obtained results are that the hand wash product of PT SMU were distributed to respondents in the form of prototype and the testing is carried out by comparing the performance with two of the most popular competitors in the market, which is PT SMU hand wash have better performance than any competitor X and Y for the parameter product appearances, such as color of products , fragrance of products, products viscosity, fragrant when to be used, power to remove dirt, power to eliminate the fishy smell, the product softness after using, the moisture after using the hand wash, fragrance after using. Overall above consideration of respondents are to preferably to purchase PT SMU hand wash product. It is only for the results of foams parameters are still less performance than the 2 competitor X and Y. Thus in performance, hand wash of PT SMU is ready to launch in market. Reformulation to increase of foam performance can be carried out by following the improvement in next formulation stages. Keywords: New Product Development, Hand wash, Voice of Customer, Competitor Langkah-langkah dalam perancangan produk baru sangat menentukan keberhasilan dalam New Product Development (NPD). Tahapan NPD bisa mengacu dari beberapa buku litereratur diantaranya dalam Product Design & Development yang dikarang oleh Karl T Ulrich dan Steven D Eppinger, yang sudah banyak digunakan oleh para peneliti terdahulu untuk merancang sebuah produk. Salah satu yang menjadi acuan dalam penelitian ini aalah bahwa suara konsumen diterjemahkan sebagai panduan dalam perancangan produk baru sabun cuci tangan. Hasil yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa produk hand wash PT SMU yang disebar ke responden dalam bentuk prototype dan dilakukan pengujian performa dengan membandingkan dengan 2 kompetitor yang paling popular di pasaran, hand wash PT SMU memiliki performa yang lebih bagus dibandingkan dengan kompetitor X dan Y untuk katagori parameter penampilan produk, warna produk, wangi produk, kekentalan produk, wangi saat digunakan, daya menghilangkan kotoran, daya menghilangkan bau amis, kelembutan tangan setelah menggunakan hand wash tersebut, kelembaban tangan setelah menggunakan hand wash tersebut, wangi setelah digunakan dan secara keseluruhan responden lebih memilih hand wash PT SMU. Hanya untuk parameter busa yang dihasilkan saja yang masih kalah dibandingkan dengan 2 kompetitor X dan Y. Dengan demikian secara performa, hand wash PT SMU siap diproduksi dan dipasarkan. Reformulasi untuk memperbaiki jumlah busa yang dihasilkan bisa dilakukan menyusul dalam tahap improvement formulasi. Kata Kunci : Desain Produk, Suara Konsumen, Sabun Tangan, Kompetitor,
