Abstract

PT. Bando Indonesia is a private company and a manufacturer of v-belt conveyor belt that always puts quality in meeting customer satisfaction. Over production processes, belt drive variable speed products produced are not entirely meet the product specifications established by the company to ensure the quality of products delivered to the consumer, namely no defect in the product belt drive variable speed. One type of product defects that often occur at belt drive variable speed is the pinhole defects. This study was conducted to determine the cause of a pinhole defect quality deterioration at a belt drive variable speed and provide quality improvement proposals to prevent pinhole defects. The method used in this study is a six sigma DMAIC method through stages define, measure, analyze, improve and control. Fishbone diagrams are used to analyze the root causes petrified pinhole defects. As for data analysis using the software Minitab 16. Improvement efforts to decrease the number of pinhole defects in belt drive variable speed is done with the Design of Experiment (DOE). The results showed that there are three vital factors that cause pinhole defects that material factors, methods and machines. Efforts improvements made very effective so as to decrease the number of pinhole defects in the product belt drive variable speed. Keywords: Belt Drive Variable Speed, DMAIC, DOE, Minitab, Six Sigma
