Abstract

Students graduated from S1 Program are interesting customers for banks in most countries in the world, including Indonesia. S1 students could be a good market that give benefits to the banks. The banks planning to attract this market have to understand how these individuals choose the banks and analyze what important criteria that influences their choices. This study uses S1 students of Mercu Buana University as a sample, and the aim of this study is to arrange various dimensions influencing the individuals’ decisions to choose the bank and need how homogeneous the S1 students in relation to their choices in making their decisions are. It is identified that there are 5 aspect dimensions that determine their choices i.e. condition and the profitability of banks, facilities available and family opinions, performance, services, and other opinions. The most determinant factor in the bank selection criteria is based on the rank of the S1 students. The first criteria is service. Service is the professionalism of the bank’s employees in giving their services. The second is facilities and family opinions. And the third is condition and benefit given by the bank. Responses from the S1 students of the Faculty of Economics and the working students studying at the S1 Program of the Faculty of Economics, Mercu Buana University, either males or females, and users of one bank and more than one banks, have their opinion that the most unimportant criteria is family opinion Based on this different sex, male or female, it is known male students think that service is more important than what female students think. The result of T test also shows the significant differences of bank selection criteria chosen by the students and the working students studying at the Faculty of Economics, as well as by the users of one bank and more than one banks.
