Abstract

The aim of the research is to know the relationship of the usage of branded products to the self esteem level and interpersonal communication skills of the regular students I of Universitas Mercu Buana meruya. The approach of the research is using the quantitative method. The sample of the research are 201 students of regular 1 of Universitas Mercu Buana Meruya using accidental sampling technique. The date are taken using two scales, 1) Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE) 10 items and Interpersonal Communication scale De Vitto 25 items. Analysis technique to test the hypothesis uses Correlation Spearman Product Moment. The result of the research shows that there is positive and significant relationship between the self esteem level and interpersonal communication among students who wear branded roducts with the correlation coefficient value 0,662** Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pemakaian barang branded terhadap tingkat Self Esteem dan komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa reguler 1 Universitas Mercu Buana Meruya. Pendekatan ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 201 mahasiswa reguler 1 Universitas Mercu Buana Meruya. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan Teknik accidental sampling. Dalam pengambilan data, peneliti menggunakan alat ukur yaitu, skala Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE) 10 item dan skala komunikasi interpersonal De Vitto 25 item. Teknik analisis untuk menguji hipotesis menggunakan Teknik korelasi spearman. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan mahasiswa yang menggunakan barang branded terhadap Self Esteem dan kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal dengan nilai korelasi 0,662**
