Abstract

This research is constructed based on the Phenomenon that happened to Gen-Z Students at X University in Jakarta Barat, Based on the survey that has been done before, it shows that The quality of friendship among Gen-Z Students are decreased because of “Phubbing” or Phone Snubbing that caused by the excessive uses of smartphone. The purpose of this research is to see the correlation between “Phubbing” with the quality of friendship among Gen-Z Students. This research is using Pearson Correlation as a research design which being used based on the purpose of this research and the Hyphotesis of this research. Accidental sampling technique were used to collect the respondents in University X. the participants of this research are 338 students. In this research, the collecting data method that were used is Questionnaires using google form as its media. The result of this research shown that there is a significant negative correlation between Phubbing and quality of friendship. Because when being tested with Pearson Correlation test, it has a Correlation score of -0.130 with sig. of 0.07 (< 0.05). then it can be concluded that there is a significant negative correlation between Phubbing and quality of friendship which means that, the higher the value of Phubbing, the lower the value of quality of friendship. So does the opposite. Keyword : Phubbing,Smarphone ,The quality of friendship, Gen-Z Penelitian ini berdasarkan fenomena yang terjadi pada mahasiswa generasi Z di universitas X Jakarta barat. Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan adanya sebuah perilaku phubbing akibat menggunakan smartphone sehingga membuat sebuah kualitas persahabatan pada mahasiswa generasi Z menurun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan perilaku phubbing dengan Kualitas Persahabatan pada generasi Z. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian korelasional pearson yang mana desain digunakan berdasarkan tujuan dan hipotesis dari sebuah penelitian yang akan dilakukan, dengan menggunakan Teknik sampling Accidential. Partisipan pada penelitian ini berjumlah sebanyak 338 orang dari jumlah populasi, dalam pengambilan data menggunakan penyebaran kuesioner secara online (google form). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah adanya hubungan yang negative secara signifikan antara perilaku phubbing akibat menggunakan Smartphone dengan kualitas persahabatan generasi Z, karena memilikiuji korelasi pearson didapatkan hasil yaitu nilai korelasi sebesar -0,130 dengan nilai signifikansi 0,017 (< 0,05) maka dapat dikatakan bahwa adanya hubungan yang negative dan signitfikan sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa semakin tinggi sebuah perilaku phubbing akibat smartphone maka semakin rendah pula kualitas persahabatan, dan juga sebaliknya.
