Abstract

Human resources are low, economic factors, the labor law violations and sexual abuse is a common problem for the workers, especially women workers in KBN Cakung. Establishment Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM station in February 2012, is a groundbreaking form of organization Forum Buruh Lintas Pabrik as a medium to voice their concerns and interests of the workers. Research with this case study method uses the uses and gratification theory and expectancy-value theory to reveal the deeper meaning of the empowerment of women workers through broadcasts on the Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM. The study is a qualitative approach, using interpretive paradigm. Interpretive paradigm used by researchers because they want to get help understanding the development process of interpretation of an event. While the study by the research object Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM broadcast this, supported by the KBN Cakung female workers as subjects of the study. The results showed that the meaning of empowerment of women workers through broadcasts on the Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM for women workers is as stimuli in increasing confidence. In the operationalization of broadcasting, radio station is constrained in both human resources and broadcast equipment. Problems that arise later, the radio station is less than the maximum in contributing to the empowerment of women workers in KBN Cakung. Keywords: Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM, women workers, empowerment Sumber daya manusia yang rendah, faktor ekonomi, pelanggaran UU Ketenagakerjaan serta tindakan pelecehan seksual merupakan permasalahan yang umum terjadi kepada para buruh, khususnya buruh perempuan di KBN Cakung. Berdirinya stasiun Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM pada Februari 2012, merupakan bentuk terobosan dari organisasi Forum Buruh Lintas Pabrik sebagai media untuk menyuarakan permasalahan dan kepentingan buruh. Penelitian dengan metode studi kasus ini menggunakan uses and gratification theory serta expectancy-value theory untuk mengungkap lebih dalam makna pemberdayaan buruh perempuan melalui siaran di Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM. Adapun penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif ini, menggunakan paradigma interpretif. Paradigma interpretif digunakan peneliti karena ingin mendapatkan pengembangan pemahaman yang membantu proses interpretasi suatu peristiwa. Sementara itu penelitian dengan obyek penelitian siaran Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM ini, didukung oleh para buruh perempuan di KBN Cakung sebagai subyek penelitiannya. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa makna pemberdayaan buruh perempuan melalui siaran di Radio Komunitas Marsinah FM bagi buruh perempuan adalah sebagai stimuli dalam meningkatkan kepercayaan diri. Dalam operasionalisasi siaran, stasiun radio ini terkendala pada sumber daya baik manusia maupun peralatan siaran. Masalah yang timbul kemudian, stasiun radio ini kurang maksimal dalam memberikan kontribusi terhadap pemberdayaan buruh perempuan di KBN Cakung.
