Abstract

Penelitian ini berusaha mengungkap terjadinya pembisuan terhadap perempuan didalam film horror nenek gayung yang bisa mengarahkan pada terjadinya representasi yang salah terhadap perempuan. sebagai salah satu bentuk dominasi yang dilakukan oleh kelompok dominan yatu laki – laki yang dilakukan secara visual melalui media film yang disebarka luaskan kemasyarakat dalam berbagai bentuk seperti melalui sinepleks, dan cakram VCD dan DVD. Objek yang diamati adalah sebuah film horror Indonesia berjudul Nenek Gayung sebagai salah satu diantara sekian banyak film horror Indonesia yang seringkali tidak hanya mempertontonkan segala sesuatu yang berbau mistis tetapi juga menggabungkan unsur seks dan erotisme yang dilakukan dengan cara mengeksploitasi perempuan. Penelitian ini mengetengahkan paradigma kritis dengan menggunakan teori Muted Group atau teori Kelompok Bisu yang dikembangkan oleh Cheris Kramare. Sebagaimana yang telah kita ketahui bahwa teori ini merupakan bagian dari teori – teori feminisme. Inti dari teori Muted Group adalah bahwa telah terjadi bentuk pembisuan terhadap perempuan secara budaya dimana perempuan disini mau tidak mau harus mengikuti sistim budaya yang telah dikembangkan oleh kelompok dominan. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode semiotika Roland Barthes yang terbagi menjadi tiga unsur yaitu konotasi, denotasi dan mitos. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan implikasi akademis bagi penelitian lain di masa mendatang untuk dapat mengkaji praktik - praktik yang menunjukkan adanya pembisuan terhadap perempuan dalam berbagai bentuk dan nilai – nilai dari sistim yang membisukan itu diperkuat dengan berbagai media yang banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini adalah audiens diharapkan dapat membaca bahwa film film horror seperti Nenek Gayung dan film sejenis adalah film yang tak lebih hanya menjual mistisme dan erotisme dan tidak mempunyai nilai – nilai edukasi. The aim of this research is to observe and to disclose the occurrences on the muteness of women in Horror films Nenek Gayung, which could lead to misrepresentation of women as one of the form of domination on women from the dominant group within the patriarchal society. Women are interpreted and represented visually based on the view of men through many kinds of media. This values of domination is widely spreaded through many forms of cultural artifacts such as film on Cineplex, Video Compact Disc, Digital Versatile Disc, books, pictures and others. The object of this research is an Indonesian Horror Movies called Nenek Gayung. Nenek Gayung is a movie which combine the elements of mysticalism and erotization of women it places them as nothing but sexual objects, investigated, fragmented for the satisfaction of men. This research is applying a critical paradigm, using the theory of Muted Group developed by Cheris Kramare and her colleagues. The Muted Group Theory is one from many feminism theories. The core of this theory stated that in our patriarchal based society the women are muted by the system and the values created by the dominant group of the society. Women, based on this theory are forced to obey the system and the values made by the dominant group so they will have no chance to express themselves properly because of it. Women will have to find different methods and ways to express themselves but still they have difficulties to do this because the dominant group placed them and others of minorities in an inferior position. This research also apllies Roland Barthes’s semiotic, as we all know that Barthes divides his semiotic into three parts with five codes, they are denotative, konotative and mith.This research is expected to actualize academical implication assigned to upcoming researches related on feminism and media topics especially the application of The Muted Group Theory to point every efforts on muting and representing women within the society using mass media of any forms. Audiens are expected to be able to act critically and intelegently to realize that horror movies such as Nenek Gayung and others are nothing but a genre which has no education values for us. This kinds of movies are filled with nothing but objectivication of women and vulgar violence on them.
