Abstract

This study aims to find out about the relationship between Self-Esteem with Objectified Body Consciousness. This research instrument uses a measuring instrument with a total of 7 items for Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) with Cronbach's Alpha 0.789 and 16 items for Objectified Body Consciousness Scale (McKinley & Hyde, 1996) with Cronbach's Alpha 0.764. The population of this study was 411 students, and the study sample was taken using nonprobability method by selecting convenience sampling. Data collection techniques are done through questionnaires. The result of the study of the relationship between Self-Esteem with Objectified Body Consciousness correlation coefficient of 0,297 with a significance of 0,000 (p < 0,05) which can be concluded that there is positive and significant. The result of this study indicate the relationship between of Self-Esteem and the of Objectified Body Consciousness. Keyword : Self-Esteem, Objectified Body Consciousness Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Self-Esteem dengan Objectified Body Consciousness pada mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Mercu Buana Jakarta Barat. Instrument penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur dengan total 7 item untuk Self-Esteem (Rosenberg, 1965) dengan Cronbach’s Alpha 0.789 dan 16 item untuk Objectified Body Consciousness (McKinley & Hyde, 1996) dengan Cronbach’s Alpha 0.764. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 411 mahasiswa, sampel penelitian ini menggunakan metode non probability dengan teknik sampel praktis. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner. Hasil penelitian mengenai hubungan antara Self-Esteem dengan Objectified Body Consciousness koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,297 dengan signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara Self-Esteem dengan Objectified Body Consciousness. Kata Kunci: Self-Esteem, Objectified Body Consciousness
