Abstract
The high level of defects in the Brake Drum BT 1482 during the production period January - December 2018 which occurred at PT. ABC constantly experiences a percentage of defects that do not meet company standards. The high defect affects the quality of the product. Because the product is applied to automotive so it has high quality standards. There are three types of dominant defects that occur namely shrinkage, gas holes, and broken casting. Broken casting is the highest defect that occurs in PT. ABC. This defect causes the percentage of rejects to be above the company standard because it occurs within 1 year during the period January - December 2018 the standard company defect target has never been reached / is above 2%. The Six Sigma approach is carried out with the DMAIC method to find out the dominant causes that occur so as to make the product become defect. From the DMAIC method, it can be known the factors that cause the defect through a diagram sebab-akibat. Proposed improvements that can be implemented to reduce the level of defects include changing the method of breaking the system, pallet arrangement for Brake Drum BT 1482 products. We can be to knows after a trial period of 2 months from October to November 2019 the percentage of defects has decreased and is below the target company defect standard. Keyword : Six Sigma, DMAIC Tingginya tingkat cacat pada produk Brake Drum BT 1482 selama periode produksi Januari – Desember 2018 yang terjadi di PT. ABC terus-menerus mengalami persentase cacat yang tidak memenuhi standar perusahaan. Tingginya cacat ini berpengaruh terhadap kualitas yang dihasilkan terhadap produk tersebut. Karena produk tersebut diaplikasikan untuk otomotif sehingga memiliki standar kualitas yang tinggi. Ada tiga macam jenis cacat yang dominan terjadi yaitu shrinkage, lubang gas, dan broken casting. Broken casting merupakan cacat tertinggi yang terjadi di PT. ABC. Cacat ini menyebabkan persentase reject berada di atas standar perusahaan karena terjadi dalam waktu 1 Tahun selama periode Januari – Desember 2018 standar target cacat perusahaan tidak pernah tercapai/ berada di atas 2%. Pendekatan Six Sigma dilakukan dengan metode DMAIC untuk mengetahui penyebab dominan yang terjadi sehingga membuat produk tersebut menjadi cacat. Dari metode DMAIC dapat diketahui faktor-faktor penyebab defect melalui diagram sebab akibat. Usulan perbaikan yang dapat diterapkan untuk mengurangi tingkat cacat antara lain merubah metode pematahan getting sistem, penataan pallet untuk produk Brake Drum BT 1482. Dapat dikatuhi setelah dilakukan trial selama jangka waktu 2 Bulan periode Oktober – November 2019 persentasi cacat mengalami penurunan dan berada di bawah target standar cacat perusahaan.
