Abstract

ABSTRAK Proses metalografi bertujuan untuk melihat struktur mikro suatu bahan, untuk itu ada beberapa tahapan yang harus dilakukan.Tahapan yang harus dilalui sebelum observasi dengan mikroskop adalah mounting, grinding, polishing,dan etching. Dari keempat proses tersebut, proses grinding dan polishing merupakan proses yang sangat penting untuk mendapatkan permukaan sampel bahan menjadi benar-benar halus agar dapat dilakukan observasi. Agar menjamin bahwa mesin polishing memiliki kualitas yang baik maka perlu diadakan beberapa analisis yaitu analisis ketegaklurusan antara base plate dengan dudukan motor. Analisis alignment antara poros motor dengan poros spindle. Analisis run-out dan poros spindle. Analisis fungsional mesin polishing. Standar pengukuran alignment berdasarkan ISO 2372 dan pengukuran run-out berdasarkan ISO 1708. Hasil pengukuran dengan mistar siku didapatkan nilai sudut sebesar 90° pada kedua sumbu X dan Y antara dudukan motor dengan baseplate sehingga dapat dipastikan bahwa poros motor benar-benar lurus secara vertikal. Hasil pengukuran aligment pulley dan centreline menggunakan vernier caliper dan mistar baja didapatkan hasil dari diameter dan jari-jari poros serta jarak antara kedua poros. Untuk menghitung jarak centreline antara poros motor dengan poros spindle maka hasil dari pengukuran jarak antar poros ditambah dengan jari-jari kedua buah poros. Dan dari hasil perhitungan centreline dipastikan bahwa poros dan pulley dari motor dan spindle berada pada posisi sejajar. Hasil pengukuran dengan dial analysis indicator bahwa run-out poros spindle dalam kondisi baik dan sesuai dengan standar serta poros dalam kondisi lurus. Dari hasil analisis fungsional alat menggunakan 3 variabel kecepatan serta waktu 20 detik dan ukuran kertas amplas 1500, hasil spesimen yang paling baik pada kecepatan 2511 rpm dan indikator kecepatan pada mesin sesuai dengan tachometer dan disimpulkan mesin polishing berfungsi dengan baik. Of the four processes, the grinding and polishing process is a very important process to get the surface of the material sample to be really smooth so that it can be observed. To ensure that the polishing machine has good quality, it is necessary to carry out several analysiss, namely analysising the rigidity between the base plate and the motorbike holder. Analysising the alignment between the motor shaft with the spindle shaft. Run-out and spindle shaft analysising. Functional analysising of polishing machines. Alignment measurement standard based on ISO 2372 and runout measurement based on ISO 1708. The measurement results with the ruler of the elbow obtained an angle value of 90 ° on both X and Y axis between the motor holder with baseplate so that it can be ascertained that the motor shaft is really vertically straight. The results of the measurement of the pulley and centreline alignment using vernier caliper and steel bar are obtained from the diameter and radius of the shaft and the distance between the two shafts. To calculate the centreline distance between the motor shaft and the spindle shaft, the results of the measurement of the distance between the shaft plus the radius of the two shafts. And from the results of centreline calculations, it is ensured that the shaft and pulley of the motor and spindle are in a parallel position. The measurement results with a dial analysis indicator that the spindle shaft run-out is in good condition and in accordance with the standard and the shaft is in a straight condition. 3 variable speed and time of 20 seconds and the size of sandpaper 1500, the best results specimen at a speed of 2511 rpm and result of the speed indicator on the machine same with tachometer and it is concluded that the polishing machine is functioning well.
