Abstract

PT PJC is a company engaged in the manufacturing industry, producing various kinds of resins, one of which is acrylic resin. In order to produce the products as scheduled, PJC also required to maintain the quality of its product by minimizing the production of defect products. To improve product quality, PT PJC always prioritizes the continuous improvement methods so that the products produced are in accordance with the customer requirements. In this study, the DMAIC method is used to improve the quality of the products. The first step, Define, is done to identify problems and to specify the requirement of the products. In 'Measure' step, the probability percentage of defect appearance is 50%, viscosity 75% and solid content 69%. Afterwards, the measurement is carried out with Pareto Diagram to obtain the data of the highest defect of acrylic resin, which is the viscosity parameter, at 38,7%. The third step, Analyze step, uses the Cause and Effect Diagram (Fishbone Diagram) and Problem Analysis Table (5W+1H) to discover the causes of defect. After the causes of defect is known, in Improve step, we use the analysis result of cause-and-effect relationship to obtain the improvement and control plan to minimize the defect in acrylic resin. The last step, Control, is done by making the control check, calibration schedule, training schedule and the placement of work instructions in production area. Key words : Continuous Improvement, DMAIC, Defect, Pareto, Fishbone, Check sheet, Acrylic Resins PT PJC merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang industri manufaktur, memproduksi berbagai macam resin, salah satunya adalah resin akrilik. Selain tuntutan untuk menghasilkan produk sesuai schedule, perusahaan juga dituntut untuk menjaga kualitas produk dengan cara meminimalisir pembuatan produk defect. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas produk, PT PJC selalu mengedepankan metode perbaikan berkelanjutan (Continuous Improvement) sehingga produk yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan spesifikasi yang diinginkan oleh pelanggan. Dalam meningkatan kualitas hasil produksi, pada studi ini, digunakan metode DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Pada tahap Define, dilakukan identifikasi masalah yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan spesifikasi dengan hasil produksi. Pada tahap Measure, didapatkan persentase probabilitas defect appearance sebesar 50%, viskositas sebesar 75%, dan solid content sebesar 69%. Kemudian dilakukan pengukuran dengan Diagram Pareto untuk mengetahui defect resin akrilik terbanyak terjadi pada parameter viskositas, yakni sebesar 38,7%. Pada tahap Analyze, digunakan Diagram Sebab-Akibat (Fishbone Diagram) dan juga Tabel Analisa Masalah (5W+1H) untuk mengetahui sebab-sebab terjadinya defect. Setelah diketahui penyebab terjadinya defect, pada tahap Improve , digunakan hasil analisis hubungan sebab-akibat agar didapatkan cara-cara perbaikan dan bagaimana pengontrolannya untuk mengurangi defect pada hasil produksi resin akrilik. Selanjutnya, pada tahap Control , pengendalian dilakukan dengan pembuatan control sheet, jadwal kalibrasi, jadwal training, dan penempatan prosedur kerja pada area kerja produksi.
