Abstract
This study aims to describe coping stress on mothers who have autism children in early children age (2-6 years). This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study method. The subjects of this study were four mothers who had children with autism in early children age (2-6 years). All four subjects domiciled in South Tangerang. Data obtained through interviews with subjects, observations and document relating to this study needs. The results of this study indicate that mothers who have children diagnosed with autism in early child age experience stress and dominantly, subject used problem focused coping, which is confrontative coping, but there are some subjects who also use emotional focused coping as an addition. The application of coping stress carried out by each subject will be discussed further in this study. Key words: Coping stress, mother, autism, early children age. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran coping stress pada ibu yang memiliki anak autisme di usia kana-kanak awal (2-6 tahun). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah empat orang ibu yang memiliki anak autisme di usia kanak-kanak awal (2-6 tahun). Keempat subjek berdomisili di Tangerang Selatan. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan subjek, observasi serta arsip-arsip yang berhubungan dengan keperluan penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ibu yang memiliki anak terdiagnosa autisme di usia kanak-kanak awal mengalami stress dan subjek dominan menggunakan problem focused coping yaitu confrontative coping, namun ada beberapa subjek yang juga menggunakan emotional focused coping sebagai tambahannya. Penggunaan dari coping stress yang dilakukan oleh masing-masing subjek akan dibahas lebih lanjut dalam penelitian ini. Kata kunci: Coping stress, ibu, autisme, usia kanak-kanak awal
