Abstract
Sundanese cultural rituals have been inherent and become a unity of the Baduy Luar community in their lives. This research study is about intercultural communication between the Baduy Luar tribe where there are rituals that apply the principles of therapeutic communication. Each culture regulates aspects of social, economic, health, and others. In the context of health, there are rituals during the period of pregnant women until giving birth in the Baduy Luar tribe, during the ritual period there are therapeutic communication practices that can comfort pregnant women. The purpose of this study is to find out how the principles of therapeutic communication are applied in rituals as a culture of pregnancy that must be carried out by Baduy Luar Kanekes women, any ritual that reflects the principles of therapeutic communication values that can provide comfort. This research approach is qualitative with Dell Hymes' ethnographic communication theory. The results of this study that the presence of the closest person of the mother / husband can be a sedative pregnant woman in undergoing the process of pregnancy until delivery. Inheritance of rituals about Sundanese cultural customs of pregnant women is inherited and continues to be preserved into the identity of the Baduy Luar community. Communication practices as a form of cultural inheritance, rituals that occur in Baduy Luar for pregnant women are a reflection of the similarity and appropriateness of the principle of purpose with therapeutic communication. So that communication can be a panacea for meeting the needs of information that can provide peace and comfort for pregnant women. Keywords: Ethnography, Pregnancy, Sundanese Custom, Ritual. Ritual budaya Sunda telah melekat dan menjadi satu kesatuan masyarakat Baduy Luar di dalam kehidupannya. Kajian penelitian ini mengenai komunikasi antar budaya suku Baduy Luar dimana terdapat ritual-ritual yang menerapkan prinsip-prinsip komunikasi terapeutik. Setiap budaya mengatur aspek-aspek bermasyarakat, ekonomi, kesehatan, dan lain-lain. Dalam konteks kesehatan adanya ritual semasa ibu hamil sampai melahirkan di suku Baduy Luar, selama masa ritual terdapat praktek komunikasi terapeutik yang dapat menyamankan ibu hamil. Tujuan penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana prinsip-prinsip komunikasi terapeutik diterapkan dalam ritual sebagai budaya masa hamil yang harus dijalankan oleh wanita Baduy Luar Kanekes, ritual apa saja yang mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip nilai-nilai komunikasi terapeutik yang dapat memberikan kenyamanan. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teori etnografi komunikasi Dell Hymes. Hasil penelitian ini bahwa kehadiran orang terdekat ibu/suami dapat menjadi penenang ibu hamil dalam menjalani proses kehamilannya hingga persalinannya. Pewarisan ritual mengenai adat budaya Sunda pada ibu hamil di wariskan dan terus dilestarikan menjadi identitas diri masyarakat Baduy Luar. Praktek komunikasi sebagai bentuk pewarisan budaya, ritual yang terjadi di Baduy Luar terhadap ibu hamil terdapat cerminan kesamaan dan kesesuaian prinsip tujuan dengan komunikasi terapeutik. Sehingga komunikasi dapat menjadi obat bagi pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi yang dapat memberikan ketenangan dan rasa nyaman pada ibu hamil. Kata kunci : Etnografi, Kehamilan, Adat Sunda, Ritual.
