Abstract

Pada era perubahan kebutuhan konsumen dan tingginya permintaan produk yang andal, perusahaan perlu meningkatkan kualitas produk untuk dapat mempertahankan bisnisnya di dunia industri yang kompetitif. Termasuk kualitas boiler sebagai komponen pembangkit listrik termal harus tetap terjaga pada performa yang baik agar pembangkit listrik dapat beroperasi secara normal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas fabrikasi boiler melalui penerapan metode six sigma dengan prinsip DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, dan Control). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa persentase rata-rata cacat las dari hasil pengujian radiografi melebihi target yang ditetapkan perusahaan untuk sambungan pengelasan tube-tube, header-header, dan header-end caps. Jenis cacat las yang sering terjadi adalah cacat las porositas dengan persentase 36%. Berdasarkan analisa data, terdapat empat faktor utama yang memengaruhi hasil pengelasan antara lain kemampuan juru las, pengondisian elektroda las, parameter mesin las, dan kondisi lingkungan. Dengan melakukan tindakan perbaikan melalui prinsip DMAIC (six sigma), nilai sigma meningkat dari 4.1 menjadi 5 dan persentase cacat las menurun dari 4.25% menjadi 0.27%. Kata Kunci : DMAIC, Six Sigma, Boiler, Cacat Las, Radiography Test In this era of changing customer needs and demand of highly reliable products, the company need to improve their quality to survive and grow in the highly competitive business world. Including quality of boiler in the thermal power plant should be maintained with a good performance in order to assure that power plant can operate normally. This study aims to improve the quality of boiler fabrication through six sigma methods with DMAIC principle (Defining, Measuring, Analyzing, Improving, And Control). The research finding that the average percentage of weld defect that exceeds the target percentage of weld defect is Radiography Test (RT) of welding tube-tube, header-header, and header-end caps. Porosity is a type of weld defect that often occurs, around 36%. Based on data analysis, there are four critical factors that influence the output variables the most such as welder skill, condition of electrode, parameter of weld machine, and environment. By implemented improvement through DMAIC (six sigma) methods, sigma value increased from 4.1 become 5 and weld defect decreased from 4.25% become 0.27%.
