Abstract

The world's automotive sales increased 3.6% in 2018, opening opportunities and competition for the automotive and parts industry. Various strategies can be done to win that competition: increasing sales, expanding market share and reducing production costs. One of the tire industries as automotive parts industry in Indonesia in facing the competition chose to reduce of cost production strategy by reducing defective products. The building process is one of the work stations of the tire industry is focused on reducing the intended defective product. Internal data showed defective products in the process building 0.20% at 2017 and 0.17% in July ~ September 2018 higher than the company's schedule of 0.12% of the total production. The NGT, Shainin system, and DMAIC methods are expected to improve the product building defects. Based on the Pareto diagram indicates there are six defective products caused the product building defect is still high, but with the limitation of research BLP defect which is the highest defect product (48%) Used as a pilot project in this research. Results showed that the method used in this research can succeed in improving baseline performance of process building from 4.48 to 5.02 Sigma and can save the cost of IDR. 1.427.500.000,00 to IDR. 161.000.000,00 or 88.69%. Kaywords: Defective product, Building process, BLP, NGT, Shainin system, DMAIC Penjualan otomotif dunia meningkat 3,6% pada tahun 2018, membuka peluang sekaligus persaingan bagi industri otomotif dan suku cadangnya semakin terbuka. Berbagai strategi dapat dilakukan untuk memenangkan persaingan tersebut yaitu dengan meningkatkan penjualan, memperluas pangsa pasar dan mengurangi biaya produksi. Salah satu industri ban sebagai industri suku cadang otomotif di Indonesia dalam menghadapi persaingan tersebut memilih menggunakan strategi mengurangi biaya produksi dengan mengurangi produk cacat. Proses building merupakan salah satu stasion kerja dari industri ban merupakan fokus pada penurunan pada produk cacat yang dimaksud. Data internal menunjukkan produk yang cacat dalam proses building 0,20% pada 2017 dan 0,17% pada Juli ~ September 2018 lebih tinggi dari schedule perusahaan yaitu 0,12% dari total produksi. Metode NGT, Shainin sistem, dan DMAIC diharapkan dapat memperbaiki produk cacat proses building. Berdasarkan diagram Pareto menunjukkan bahwa ada enam produk cacat yang menyebabkan produk cacat proses building masih tinggi, namun dengan keterbatasan penelitian, produk cacat jenis BLP yang merupakan produk cacat tertinggi (48%) digunakan sebagai proyek percontohan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dapat berhasil dalam meningkatkan baseline kinerja proses building (level sigma) dari 4,48 menjadi 5,02 sigma dan dapat menghemat biaya dari Rp. 1.427.500.000,00 menjadi Rp. 161.000.000,00 atau 88,69%.
