Abstract

This study aims to describe the nature of emotional regulation in early adult age, 18-21 years. This type of research is a qualitative approach, with a sample of 3 people. What is observed is how children can regulate their emotions after their parents divorce. The results of this study indicate that emotional regulation can affect one's mindset and can control emotions that occur in someone who has the ability to regulate feelings, physiological reactions, one's thoughts, and emotional responses (facial expressions, behavior, and tone of voice) and can be calm after losing control of the emotions that are felt to achieve the goal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran regulasi emosi pada dewasa awal korban perceraian orang tua, responden yang digunakan adalah anak-anak yang menjadi korban akibat perceraian orang tuanya usia 18-21 tahun. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif, dengan jumlah sampel 3 orang. Yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana cara anak tersebut dapat meregulasi emosinya setelah terjadinya perceraian orang tuanya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa regulasi emosi dapat mempengaruhi seseorang untuk merubah pola pikir dan agar bisa mengendalikan emosi yang muncul dalam keadaan sadar ataupun tidak sadar pada tingkat intensitas yang tepat untuk mencapai suatu tujuan yang meliputi kemampuan mengatur perasaan, reaksi fisiologis, cara berpikir seseorang, dan respon emosi (ekspresi wajah, tingkah laku dan nada suara) serta dapat dengan cepat menenangkan diri setelah kehilangan kontrol atas emosi yang dirasakan untuk mencapai suatu tujuan.
