Abstract

Financial distress is a condition that is not expected by all companies, be it banking, manufacturing or other companies. Financial distress that disrupts the company's operational activities is a condition that must be watched out for and anticipated. This study was conducted to examine the effect of Good Corporate Governance, Firm Size and Profitability on Financial Distress. This study aims to determine the effect of Good Corporate Governance, Company Size and Profitability on financial distress. The population in this study were all manufacturing companies in the consumer goods industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2012-2017. The sample used in this study were 17 companies and the sample was taken using purposive sampling method. The data used are secondary data and the data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that partially and simultaneously the variables of the Board of Directors, Independent Commissioners, Audit Committee and Company Size have no effect on financial distress, while profitability has a positive effect on financial distress. Simultaneously (F test), the results showed that Good Corporate Governance, Company Size, and Profitability had a significant effect on Financial Distress. Future research is expected to use other variables related to financial distress such as Current Ratio, Debt Asset Ratio, Debt Equity Ratio, Net Profit Margin, and Return of Equity as well as extend research time and use sector companies other than the manufacturing sector. Financial distress merupakan suatu keadaan yang sangat tidak diharapkan oleh semua perusahaan baik perbankan, manufaktur, maupun perusahaan lainnya. Financial distress cukup mengganggu kegiatan operasional perusahaan merupakan suatu kondisi yang harus segera diwaspadai dan diantisipasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meneliti pengaruh Good Corporate Governance, Ukuran Perusahaan dan Profitabilitas terhadap Financial Distress. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Good Corporate Governance, Ukuran Perusahaan dan Profitabilitas terhadap Financial Distress. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh perusahaan manufaktur sektor industri barang konsumsi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) tahun 2012-2017. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah 17 perusahaan dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder dan metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial dan simultan variabel Dewan Direksi, Komisaris Independen, Komite Audit dan Ukuran Perusahaan tidak ada pengaruh terhadap Financial Distress, sedangkan Profitabilitas berpengaruh positif terhadap financial distress. Secara simultan (uji F), hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Good Corporate Governance, Ukuran Perusahaan, dan Profitabilitas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Financial Distress. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat menggunakan variabel lainnya yang terkait dengan Financial Distress seperti Current Ratio, Debt Asset Ratio, Debt Equity Ratio, Net Profit Margin, dan Return of Equity serta memperpanjang waktu penelitian dan menggunakan perusahaan sektor selain sektor manufaktur.
