Abstract
In fulfilling the availability of electricity, the reliability of the electricity network is needed at this time, but some disruptions in the distribution system result in the interruption of the distribution of electricity supply. This will relate to the quality of electricity reaching consumers. The stability of the electric power system is the main reference and target in supplying electricity so as to ensure electricity usage can be used nonstop within 24 hours. One cause of interference is the SKTM cable connection. The cable connection factor can also influence the good or bad of electric power reaching consumers. The process of maintenance work which always results in a surge link or switching results in a transient voltage which results in damage to the cable connection. Therefore in this study, the authors analyzed the effect of medium voltage arresters on the service life of the SKTM cable connection to reduce transient voltages. The results of the research prove that the installation of a medium voltage arrester can reduce the transient voltage which before being installed has a surge of 17,198V and after the arrester has been installed it has decreased by 2 % so become 16883 V. Keywords: Transient Voltage, Cable Connection Dalam Pemenuhan ketersediaan tenaga listrik, kehandalan jaringan listrik sangat dibutuhkan saat ini namun beberapa gangguan pada system distribusi mengakibatkan terputusnya pendistribusian pasokan listrik. Hal ini akan berhubungan dengan kualitas listrik yang sampai ke konsumen. Stabilitas sistem tenaga listrik merupakan acuan dan target utama dalam menyuplai listrik sehingga memastikan pemakaian listrik dapat digunakan nonstop dalam 24 jam. Salah satu penyebab gangguan adalah sambungan kabel SKTM. Faktor sambungan kabel dapat ikut mempengaruhi baik atau buruknya dalam megalirkan listrik sampai ke konsumen. Proses pekerjaan pemeliharaan yang selalu menghasilkan surja hubung atau switching mengakibatkan timbulnya tegangan transient yang berakibat rusaknya sambungan kabel. Oleh karena itu pada penelitian kali ini, penulis melakukan analisa pengaruh arrester tegangan menengah terhadap usia pakai sambungan kabel SKTM guna meredam tegangan transient. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa pemasangan arrester tegangan menengah dapat meredam tegangan transient yang sebelum terpasang mengalami lonjakan sebesar 17.198V dan setelah dipasang arrester mengalami penurunan tegangan sebesar 2 % yaitu 16883 V.
