Abstract

The use of epoxy resin in the chemical industry is very large, epoxy resin is used as a good adhesive and protective coating. Epoxy resin has a density of 1,051.1 kg/m3 , viscosity of 10,000 cps at a pressure of 3.8 kg/cm2 and a temperature of 150 ͦ C from the dry steam media, the material determined is stainless steel SA 240 TP 304. The reactor is composed of pressure vessels and agitators, the reactor often occurs and for the agitators there are problems with motor and shaft power due to lack of accuracy in the reactor design process. In this study, the reactor was designed to produce thickness from pressure vessels according to ASME sec. VIII div. I, the motor power and type of motor required, the shaft diameter and thickness of the impellers. In the design of the reactor using manual calculations using Microsoft Excel and comparison software PV Elite 2016 for pressure vessels, and for the calculation of the agitator using Microsoft Excel with the final result is a sketch for the reactor capacity of 12 m3 for epoxy resin. The result of this calculation is the thickness of the shell of 3 mm, the top torispherical of 5 mm, the bottom torispherical of 5 mm with SA-240 TP304 material and the half coil of 3 mm with SA-283 grade C material. And both methods both manual and with PV Elite 2016 software there is no significant difference. Calculation of reactor motor power 12 m3 capacity of 3 kW with 72 rpm rotation, and specifications of gear motor SK 4282-100LA / 4, with a shaft diameter of 63.5 mm or 2.5 inch with an actual deflection of 9.76 mm. and the diameter of the pitch paddle blade is 805 mm with 10 mm thickness and 120 mm blade width. Keywords: Epoxy resin reactor, pressure vessel, agitator component calculation, ASME section VIII division I Penggunaan epoxy resin di industri kimia sangat besar, epoxy resin digunakan sebagai bahan adhesif dan lapisan pelindung yang baik. Epoxy resin mempunyai densitas 1.051 kg/m3 , viskositas 10.000 cps pada tekanan kerja 3.8 kg/cm2 dan temperature kerja 150 Cͦ dari media uap air kering, material yang ditentukan yaitu stainless steel SA 240 TP 304. Reaktor terdiri dari bejana tekan dan pengaduk/agitator, reaktor sering terjadi ledakan pada saat pengoperasian dan untuk agitator terjadi permasalahan dari daya motor dan poros yang dikarenakan kurang ketelitian dalam proses mendesain reaktor. Dalam penelitian ini reaktor didesain untuk menghasilkan tebal dari bejana tekan berdasarkan standar ASME Sec. VIII div. I, daya motor dan tipe motor yang dibutuhkan, diameter poros dan tebal dari impeller. Dalam perancangan reaktor menggunakan perhitungan manual menggunakan microsoft Excel dan pembanding software PV Elite 2016 untuk bejana tekan, dan untuk perhitungan agitator menggunakan microsoft Excel dengan hasil akhir adalah sketsa untuk reaktor kapasitas 12 m3 untuk epoxy resin. Hasil perhitungan ini ketebalan pada shell sebesar 3 mm, pada top torispherical sebesar 5 mm, pada bottom torispherical sebesar 5 mm dengan material SA-240 TP304 dan pada half coil sebesar 3 mm dengan material SA�283 grade C. Dan kedua metode baik manual maupun dengan software PV Elite 2016 tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan. Perhitungan daya motor penggerak reaktor kapasitas 12 m3 sebesar 3 kW dengan putaran 72 rpm, dan spesifikasi gear motor SK 4282-100LA/4, dengan diameter poros 63,5 mm atau 2,5 inch dengan aktual defleksi sebesar 9,76 mm. dan diameter dari pitch paddle blade sebesar 805 mm dengan tebal 10 mm dan lebar blade 120 mm.
