Abstract

Lantung bark is one type of bark in Indonesia that has the potential and can be utilized to create quality craft products for fashion products. The rapid development of fashion as it is currently encouraging the emergence of innovation in fashion products such as women's bags and handicraft goods. Most women are using a bag besides used to carry luggage but also serves to support their appearance. Lantung bark crafts in the form of women's bags that are now presented on the market are only displaying the natural color of the material itself so that it causes the product to be less attractive and looks monotonous. Based on this, the application of batik motifs and coloring process with using natural dyes of secang to present a more aesthetic color scheme to the lantung bark can be used as an innovation in the process. The innovation presented can create a higher quality of lantung bark material to create fashion products by crafts so that they can competing and attract more people. Through this design, fashion products that utilize natural materials such as lantung bark can be more developed and have a high quality. It is also inseparable from the effort to help the craftsmen in processing lantung bark and batik be better by the potential contained in it is huge for the development of fashion today. Keywords: lantung bark, batik, natural dyes, crafts, fashion, women's bag, secang Kulit kayu lantung merupakan salah satu jenis kulit kayu di Indonesia yang berpotensi dan dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menciptakan produk kerajinan yang berkualitas sebagai produk-produk fashion. Perkembangan fashion yang semakin pesat seperti saat ini mendorong munculnya inovasi pada produk-produk fashion seperti halnya pada tas wanita dan produk kerajinan. Bagi sebagian besar wanita, fungsi tas selain digunakan untuk membawa barang-barang bawaan juga berfungsi untuk menunjang penampilan mereka. Produk kerajinan kulit kayu lantung berupa tas wanita yang kini hadir di pasaran hanya menampilkan warna natural dari material itu sendiri sehingga hal itu menyebabkan produk tersebut menjadi kurang menarik dan terlihat monoton. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penerapan motif batik dan pewarnaan menggunakan pewarna alami kayu secang untuk menghadirkan skema warna yang lebih estetik terhadap material kulit kayu lantung dapat dijadikan sebagai inovasi dalam prosesnya. Inovasi yang dihadirkan ini mampu menciptakan material kulit kayu lantung yang lebih berkualitas untuk menciptakan produk-produk fashion dari kerajinan sehingga dapat bersaing dan menarik minat lebih banyak orang. Melalui perancangan ini, produk fashion yang memanfaatkan material dari alam seperti kulit kayu lantung dapat lebih berkembang dan berkualitas. Hal tersebut juga tidak terlepas dari upaya untuk membantu para pengrajin dalam mengolah kulit kayu lantung serta batik dengan lebih baik melihat potensi yang terdapat di dalamnya sangat besar bagi perkembangan fashion saat ini.
