Abstract

Cajon is a musical instrument that serves as a substitute for a drum. There are still few cajon craftsmen who produce cajon at a low price with sound quality that is no less good than the cajon produced by large companies. This phenomenon encourages me to make quality cajon which is different from cajon in general which is supported by electric acoustic electronic components and the selection of quality materials and detailed manufacturing techniques. Engineering is a method or system to do something (Big Dictionary of Indonesian). Based on the conditions that have been mentioned, in this study raised two problems, namely How to make an electric acoustic cajon, and how the process and technique of making cajon redesigns that have different shapes and functions from cajon in general. The design object used in this design is qualitative, I as the design subject, the cajon produced as the design object, by describing the organological structure, techniques and the manufacturing process. The results obtained from this design are, seen from the physical form and how to play it, the cajon is classified as directly struck membranophone or membrane music instruments at direct hit, cajon construction is trapezoidal and is larger in size compared to cajon in general, the basic technique of cajon is very simple and easy, cajon functions as a substitute for the drum, the manufacturing process is done carefully using manufacturing techniques that are modified by the author. Keywords: technique, cajon, acoustic, electric Cajon adalah alat musik yang berfungsi sebagai pengganti drum. Masih sedikit pengrajin cajon yang memproduksi cajon dengan harga yang murah dengan kualitas suara yang tidak kalah bagus dibandingkan cajon produksi perusahaan besar. Fenomena tersebut mendorong saya untuk membuat cajon berkualitas yang berbeda dengan cajon pada umumnya yang didukung dengan komponen elektronik akustik elektrik dan pemilihan bahan berkualitas serta teknik pembuatan yang detail. Teknik adalah metode atau sistem mengerjakan sesuatu (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia). Berdasarkan kondisi yang telah disebutkan, dalam perancangan ini mengangkat dua permasalahan, yaitu Bagaimana membuat cajon akustik elektrik, dan bagaimana proses serta teknik pembuatan redesain cajon yang memiliki bentuk dan fungsi yang berbeda dengan cajon pada umumnya. Objek perancangan yang digunakan dalam perancangan ini adalah kualitatif, saya sebagai subyek perancangan, cajon yang diproduksi sebagai obyek perancangan, dengan mendeskripsikan struktur organologi, teknik serta proses pembuatannya. Hasil yang diperoleh dari perancangan ini adalah, dilihat dari bentuk fisik serta cara memainkannya, cajon diklasifikasikan sebagai directly struck membranophone atau alat musik membranofon pukul langsung, konstruksi cajon berbentuk kotak trapesium dan berukuran lebih besar dibandingkan dengan cajon pada umumnya, teknik dasar permainan cajon sangat sederhana dan mudah,cajon berfungsi sebagai pengganti drum, Proses pembuatan dilakukan dengan cermat menggunakan teknik pembuatan yang dimodifikasi oleh penulis. Kata kunci : teknik, cajon, akustik, elektrik.
