Abstract

One of the most important basic skills for children is reading, by reading knowledge becomes broad and children become intelligent. The ideal age for children to learn to read is around 4-6 years, where children are studying in kindergarten. The ability to recognize words and sentences when reading is influenced by the learning methods and methods the teacher uses. Educational tools aimed at creating learning processes that have meaning. Puzzles can be an educational tool for children, so children can learn to recognize letters and read in a fun way, can be actively involved in learning and can also train cognitive in children. The method used in the educational toy "Words Puzzle" can help children in the process of learning to read starting from the introduction of the letters of the alphabet by using mnemonic devices, arranging letters and syllables into whole words with image puzzle associations. From the learning process that uses "Words Puzzle" then has complete learning continuity for children. The application of the educational toy "Words Puzzle" uses methods that are generally taught by both teachers at school and parents at home. The learning process of reading starts from the introduction of the alphabet letters A - Z, using the alphabetical method, syllables with image puzzle associations so that it becomes an educational game that becomes fun. The picture puzzle uses 24 illustrated objects that are designed with illustrations that are familiar to children, the object illustrations are made with cartoon-style vector with bright colors to be attractive for children, with puzzle pieces made to practice problem solving for children. Keywords: Educational Games, Puzzle, Learning to read, Kindergarten Keterampilan dasar bagi anak-anak salah satu yang terpenting merupakan membaca, dengan membaca pengetahuan menjadi luas dan anak menjadi cerdas. Usia yang ideal untuk anak belajar membaca yaitu berkisar 4-6 tahun, dimana anak sedang menuntut ilmu di Taman Kanak-Kanak. Kemampuan dalam mengenali kata dan kalimat saat membaca dipengaruhi cara dan metode pembelajaran yang guru gunakan. Alat belajar yang edukatif bertujuan menciptakan proses belajar yang memiliki makna. Puzzle dapat menjadi salah satu pilihan sarana alat permainan edukatif untuk anak, agar anak dapat belajar mengenal huruf dan membaca dengan cara yg menyenangkan, dapat terlibat secara aktif dalam belajar dan juga dapat melatih kognitif pada anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam mainan edukatif "Words Puzzle" dapat membantu anak dalam proses belajar membaca mulai dari pengenalan huruf alfabet dengan menggunakan mnemonik device, menyusun huruf dan suku kata menjadi kata utuh dengan asosiasi puzzle gambar. Dari proses pembelajaran yang dengan menggunakan "Words Puzzle" maka memiliki kontinuitas belajar yang komplit bagi anak. Penerapan pada mainan edukasi “Words Puzzle” menggunakan metode yang secara umum diajarkan baik oleh guru di sekolah dan orang tua di rumah. Proses pembelajaran membaca dimulai dari pengenalan huruf alfabet A - Z, menggunakan metode abjad, suku kata dengan asosiasi puzzle gambar sehingga menjadi permainan edukatif menjadi menyenangkan. Puzzle gambar menggunakan 24 objek ilustrasi yang dirancang dengan ilustrasi gambar yang akrab dengan anak, objek ilustrasi dibuat dengan vector gaya kartun dengan pemilihan warna�warna yang cerah agar menarik bagi anak, dengan potongan puzzle yang dibuat untuk melatih problem solving bagi anak. Kata kunci : Mainan Edukasi, Puzzle, Belajar Membaca, Taman Kanak-kanak.
