Abstract
This research has a purposed to provide empirical evidences about the effect of company size, profitability and leverage towards income smoothing on sector basic and chemical companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The research was conducted using purposive sampling of 28 companies in the range time from 2013 until 2016 with total sample are 112 companies. The analyzed method in this research used binary logistic regressions. The results of simultaneously test showed the variables company size, profitability and leverage are positive and significant impact on income smoothing, this result has been proved by F test. However, the result of parsial test showed that company size has significant effect on income smoothing meanwhile the Profitability and leverage variable has no significant effect on income smoothing. Keywords: Company Size, Profitability, Leverage and Income Smoothing Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti empiris tentang pengaruh ukuran perusahaan, profitabilitas dan leverage terhadap perataan laba. Objek penelitian ini adalah perusahaan sektor dasar dan kimia yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan purposive sampling dengan hasil sampel 28 perusahaan dalam jangka waktu penelitian yang digunakan dari tahun 2013 – 2016 sehingga total sampel yang digunakan adalah 112 perusahaan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah binary logistic. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa secara bersama-sama (simultan) variabel ukuran perusahaan, profitabilitas, dan leverage berpengaruh terhadap perataan laba, hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil uji F yang dilakukan. Namun, hasil penelitian secara parsial menunjukkan bahwa variabel ukuran perusahaan bepengaruh signifikan terhadap perataan laba, sedangkan variabel profitabilitas dan leverage tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perataan laba, hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil uji t yang menujukkan nilai signifikan dari variabel perataan laba dan tidak signifikan dari varibel profitabilitas dan leverage.
