Abstract
High competition in the global alloy wheel market demands to be able to offer high quality alloy wheels. The purpose of this study is to reduce the level of defects in the casting process area using the Define Measure Analyze Improve Control (DMAIC) method. This study uses a systematic approach to find the root cause of the dominant defect with a cause and effect diagram. Quality improvement using quality tools, i.e. Pareto diagram, fish bone diagram, why why analysis. From the Pareto diagram it is known that the main defects identified in aluminum casting are Leaky Air Leak Test, porous hole motifs, and oval casting problems. In determining the proposed quality improvement using FMEA tools. The results of data processing show an increase in process capabilities and product performance after improvement. Process capacity from Cp = 0.81 to Cp = 1.58. Product performance calculation results from sigma level = 3.6 to sigma level = 4.0. The effect of defect reduction can save production costs of IDR 377,000,000. The application of the DMAIC method can provide a significant improvement in product quality and have an impact on cost savings. Keyword: quality, dmaic, process capability, process performance, alloy wheels Persaingan pasar global alloy wheels yang tinggi menuntut untuk dapat menawarkan produk alloy wheels yang berkualitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menurunkan tingkat defect di area proses casting menggunakan metode Define Measure Analyse Improve Control (DMAIC). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sistematis untuk menemukan akar penyebab cacat yang dominan dengan diagram sebab dan akibat. Perbaikan kualitas menggunakan quality tools yaitu diagram pareto, diagram fishbone, why why analisis. Dari diagram Pareto diketahui bahwa cacat utama pada pengecoran aluminium teridentifikasi adalah bocor Air Leak Test, keropos hole motive, dan oval problem casting. Dalam menentukan usulan perbaikan-perbaikan kualitas menggunakan tool FMEA. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan ada peningkatan kapabilitas proses dan kinerja produk setelah dilakukan perbaikan. Kapabilitas proses dari Cp = 0,81 menjadi Cp = 1,58. Hasil penghitungan kinerja produk dari level sigma = 3,6 menjadi level sigma = 4,0. Dampak penurunan defect dapat menghemat biaya produksi sebesar Rp 377.000.000,-. Penerapan metode DMAIC dapat memberikan perbaikan kualitas produk yang signifikan dan berdampak pada penghematan biaya produksi.
