Abstract

Production at PT. KRAKATAU POSCO is still found with a cutting defect that exceeds the targeted number of 50 stems while the number of slabs that have defects exceeding 50 stems, the highest defect occurred in June the number of defects reached 217 stems. The percentage of the largest types of defects namely Bad Starting is 45.16%, Pitting is 20.28%, Melting is 18.89%, and TCM Gap is 15.67%. Slab quality improvement using the DMAIC method. In stage D (Define) what is done is to determine Critical to Quality (CTQ) to find out what are the characteristics of physical cutting slab quality. In stage M (Measure), a pareto diagram is used to determine the highest frequency of disability which will need to be improved. In stage A (Analyze) the determination of priority of repair is based on the previous pareto diagram, the research focuses on the type of defect / defect Bad Starting, to overcome the problem must analyze with a causal diagram and 5W + 1H. after the cause of the type of defect is known, the first step is to improve the problem, which has been explained in the analyze phase, the result of the discussion is the installation of the counter program on the nozzle cutting so that the nozzle condition remains clean with reference to the nozzle usage age. Next step C (Control) is carried out at this stage, making a check sheet to carry out routine checking of nozzle conditions. the contents of the check sheet contain the condition and age of use of the nozzle. after the improvement was obtained the result of a defect reduction of 87%. KRAKATAU POSCO masih ditemui adanya cacat hasil cutting yang melebihi jumlah yang ditargetkan yaitu 50 batang sedangkan jumlah slab yang mengalami defect melebihi 50 batang, paling tinggi defect terjadi pada bulan Juni jumlah defect mencapai 217 batang. Persentase jenis defect yang terbesar yaitu Bad Starting sebesar 45,16%, Pitting sebesar 20,28%, Melting sebesar 18,89%, dan TCM Gap sebesar 15,67%. Peningkatan kualitas Slab dengan menggunakan metode DMAIC. Pada tahap D (Define) yang dilakukan adalah menentukan Critical to Quality (CTQ) untuk mengetahui apa saja yang menjadi karakteristik kualitas cutting slab secara fisik. Pada tahap M (Measure) dilakukan pengukuran dengan diagram pareto untuk mengetahui frekuensi kecacatan yang paling tinggi yang nantinya perlu diadakan perbaikan. Pada tahap A (Analyze) dilakukan penentuan prioritas perbaikan berdasarkan diagram pareto sebelumnya, penelitian berfokus pada jenis defect/cacat Bad Starting, untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut harus menganalisa dengan diagram sebab-akibat dan 5W+1H. setelah diketahui penyebab terjadinya jenis cacat, dilakukan tahap I (Improve) pada tahap ini dilakukan perbaikan masalah yang telah dijelaskan pada tahap analyze, didapat hasil diskusi yaitu pemasangan program counter pada nozzle cutting agar kondisi nozzle tetap bersih dengan acuan umur penggunaan nozzle tersebut. Selanjutnya dilakukan tahap C (Control) pada tahap ini dilakukan pembuatan check sheet untuk melakukan pengecekan rutin kondisi nozzle. isi check sheet berisikan tentang kondisi dan umur penggunaan nozzle. setelah dilakukan improvement didapat hasil penurunan defect sebesar 87%.
