Abstract

PT.SEID as a consumer of PT.LPDI has implemented VMI system in early 2004 that have an impact on increasing PT.LPDI inventory by 23%. This thesis aims to determine the optimal quantity of finished-goods inventory in VMI warehouse by applying Lean Six Sigma steps and the EOQ. Analysis based on data in 2011 and 2012 in the form of CRT sales data, CTV production, and inventory in the VMI warehouse. Calculation results and analysis indicated that the minimum requirement VMI inventory of 2 days CTV production, or about 6,000 units (21 "RF) and 11,000 units (21" US) is a waste of supplies. This is a fear of impending PT.SEID stock-out. In fact the daily inventory can be minimized to 1 day of production, or about 3,000 units (21 "RF) and 6,000 unit (21" US), because the distance between PT. LPDI and PT. SEID is 28 km and can be reached in 4 hours. The first step to be taken by PT.LPDI management is to convince PT.SEID that stock-out will not happen even though only 1 day inventory of CRT at VMI warehouse. Keywords: Vendor-Managed Inventory, EOQ, Lean Six Sigma.
