Abstract

Dangdut is a folk entertainment that is in-expensive but phenomenal. In the middle of mainstream of Indonesian Musics dangdut still exist and never been abandoned by its fan. Impression Management of dangdut is part of communication between the singer and the audience that completing each other. Impression management of singer becomes un-separatable part from front stage and back stage. Impression Management become an event for dangdut singer to compete to win audience's heart. This purpose of this research is to understand and analyze what is the impression management's step, strategy and politicization that is done by a dangdut singer in Tangerang . The Theory that are used are impression management theory that are applicable in the verbal and non-verbal communication contect. In the constructive paradigm, the research uses quality approach with case study method. Through this research of case study , we will be able to understand and analyze the steps of impression management of dangdut singer to persuade the audience. Impression Management is surely involves many factors such as segmentation, channel or media that is used to do management impression. In this research, we found that segmentation from the dangdut fan is an adult male, married and have low income. From dangdut performance shows that the dangdut singer does impression management toward audience in order to create chemistry that leads in to what so called "sawer". Sawer is where audience giving money to dangdut singer. Keyword : Dangdut Singer, Impression Management and Self Image Dangdut adalah hiburan rakyat yang murah tetapi fenomenal. Ditengah banyaknya jenis musik yang masuk diblantika musik Indonesia, dangdut tetap eksis dan tidak ditinggalkan penggemarnya. Impression management merupakan bagian dari komunikasi antara penyanyi dan penonton yang saling melengkapi. Impression management menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari front stage dan back stage penyanyi dangdut. Impression management menjadi sebuah ajang bagi penyanyi dangdut untuk berlomba mengambil hati masyarakat penikmat dangdut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis bagaimanakah langkah-langkah Impression management, strategi dan politisasi yang dilakukan penyanyi dangdut di Tangerang untuk menunjukkan performanya dari segi interaksi, kostum dan jogetnya. Teori yang dipergunakan adalah teori impression management yang teraplikasi dalam konteks komunikasi verbal dan non verbal. Dengan paradigma Konstruktivis, penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Melalui studi kasus penelitian ini mengetahui dan menganalisis langkah-langkah Impression management dari penyanyi dangdut di Tangerang untuk mempersuasi para penonton. Impression management tentu melibatkan banyak faktor seperti segmentasi, saluran atau media yang digunakan dalam melakukan impression management. Melalui media pertunjukan dangdut para penyanyi tersebut melakukan impression management kepada penonton agar tercipta ketertarikan untuk melakukan kegiatan sawer.
