Abstract
This study aims to examine the level of smartphone addiction, the level of academic procrastination, and the relationship between these two variables among students of the Information Systems Study Program at Mercu Buana University. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational research design. Data were collected from 223 students through questionnaires based on the Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV) and the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS). The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics, including validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, linearity testing, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation analysis. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between smartphone addiction and academic procrastination, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.753 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This coefficient indicates a strong correlation between the two variables. The results suggest that students with higher levels of smartphone addiction tend to exhibit higher levels of academic procrastination. This study is expected to contribute to the understanding of digital behavior among university students and to provide useful insights for students and higher education institutions in promoting healthier smartphone use to support academic performance . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat adiksi smartphone, tingkat prokrastinasi akademik, serta menganalisis hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut pada mahasiswa Program Studi Sistem Informasi Universitas Mercu Buana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional. Data diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada 223 mahasiswa menggunakan instrumen Smartphone Addiction Scale–Short Version (SAS-SV) dan Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS). Seluruh data dianalisis menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics melalui uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, uji linearitas, serta uji Korelasi Pearson untuk mengetahui kekuatan dan arah hubungan antarvariabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara adiksi smartphone dan prokrastinasi akademik dengan nilai koefisien korelasi Pearson sebesar 0,753 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05). Nilai tersebut menunjukkan hubungan yang berada pada kategori kuat. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat adiksi smartphone yang dimiliki mahasiswa, maka semakin tinggi pula kecenderungan mereka melakukan prokrastinasi akademik. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi mahasiswa maupun perguruan tinggi dalam meningkatkan kesadaran mengenai pentingnya pengelolaan penggunaan smartphone secara bijaksana guna mendukung produktivitas dan keberhasilan akademik.
