Abstract
The design of a Health Resort and SPA in Bandung aims to provide a recreational and restorative facility that integrates local Sundanese architectural values with modern lifestyle needs through a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach. The variables examined include the application of Neo-Vernacular Architecture principles, responses to the tropical climate, utilization of natural potential, and implementation of the healing environment concept in wellness facilities. The study objects consist of the site and precedents of health resorts, SPAs, and wellness facilities selected based on their relevance to the theme, environmental context, and architectural approach. Data were collected through literature reviews, site observations, and precedent studies, with purposive selection techniques based on their relevance to the design objectives. The data analysis method used was descriptive-qualitative analysis to identify local architectural characteristics, site conditions, user needs, and strategies for implementing NeoVernacular Architecture and the healing environment concept. The results indicate that the application of Sundanese local elements through the use of natural materials, open and layered SPAtial arrangements, building orientation toward nature, and responses to the tropical climate can produce a contextual, adaptive design with a strong local character. These concepts are applied to the main facilities, including traditional SPA areas, forest bathing, saunas, and couple retreat areas, which are integrated with natural landscape elements. The design results demonstrate that the Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach can support the creation of a healing environment that not only preserves local cultural identity but also provides opportunities for physical and mental relaxation and restoration. Therefore, the design of a Health Resort and SPA in Bandung is expected to serve as an alternative for developing a contextual and sustainable wellness facility that highlights local architectural identity within a modern context. Perancangan Health Resort and SPA di Bandung bertujuan untuk menghasilkan fasilitas rekreasi dan pemulihan yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai arsitektur lokal Sunda dengan kebutuhan gaya hidup modern melalui pendekatan Arsitektur NeoVernakular. Variabel yang dikaji meliputi penerapan prinsip Arsitektur NeoVernakular, respons terhadap iklim tropis, pemanfaatan potensi alam, serta penerapan konsep healing environment pada fasilitas wellness. Objek kajian berupa tapak dan preseden bangunan health resort, SPA, dan fasilitas wellness yang dipilih berdasarkan kesesuaian tema, konteks lingkungan, dan pendekatan arsitektur. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi literatur, observasi tapak, dan studi preseden dengan teknik pemilihan objek secara purposif berdasarkan relevansi terhadap tujuan perancangan. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif-kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik arsitektur lokal, kondisi tapak, kebutuhan pengguna, serta strategi penerapan Arsitektur Neo-Vernakular dan healing environment. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penerapan unsur lokal Sunda melalui penggunaan material alami, pengolahan ruang yang terbuka dan berlapis, orientasi bangunan terhadap alam, serta respons terhadap iklim tropis dapat menghasilkan rancangan yang kontekstual, adaptif, dan memiliki karakter lokal. Konsep tersebut diterapkan pada fasilitas utama berupa SPA tradisional, forest bathing, sauna, dan couple retreat area yang terintegrasi dengan lanskap alami. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan Arsitektur Neo-Vernakular dapat mendukung terciptanya lingkungan penyembuhan yang tidak hanya mempertahankan identitas budaya lokal, tetapi juga memberikan pengalaman relaksasi dan pemulihan fisik maupun mental. Dengan demikian, perancangan Health Resort and SPA di Bandung diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif pengembangan fasilitas wellness yang kontekstual, berkelanjutan, dan mampu mengangkat identitas arsitektur lokal dalam konteks modern.
