Abstract
Short films are an audiovisual medium that can deliver social messages thRough a combination of visuals, audio, and editing. In the filmmaking process, the editor plays an important role in shaping the story, maintaining continuity between scenes, and creating the right rhythm and emotion so the message can be effectively conveyed to the audience. This final project discusses the role of the editor during the post-production stage of the short film Retak di Atas Meja, which explores the issue of patriarchy within a family thRough the story of Sonya, a young woman who struggles against her father's authoritarian parenting in order to protect her freedom, dreams, and identity.This study uses a descriptive method with a creative practice approach. The editing process includes footage logging, Rough Cut, Fine Cut, Picture Lock, motion graphics, Color grading, and audio mixing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve. The results show that the editor's role goes beyond simply arranging footage into a complete story. The editor also builds the narrative rhythm, strengthens the conflict, and supports the overall message of the film. ThRough careful shot selection, pacing, Color grading, and audio synchronization, Retak di Atas Meja delivers a more emotional and engaging viewing experience while enhancing both the narrative and visual quality of the film. Film pendek merupakan media audiovisual yang mampu menyampaikan pesan sosial melalui perpaduan unsur visual, audio, dan penyuntingan. Dalam proses pembuatannya, editor memiliki peran penting dalam menyusun alur cerita, menjaga kesinambungan antaradegan, serta membangun ritme dan emosi agar pesan yang disampaikan dapat diterima penonton. Tugas akhir ini membahas peran editor pada tahap pascaproduksi film pendek Retak di Atas Meja, yang mengangkat isu patriarki dalam keluarga melalui kisah Sonya, seorang perempuan yang berjuang melawan pola asuh ayahnya yang otoriter demi mempertahankan kebebasan, cita-cita, dan jati dirinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan praktik penciptaan karya. Proses penyuntingan meliputi logging footage, Rough Cut, Fine Cut, Picture Lock, penambahan motion graphics, Color grading, dan audio mixing menggunakan Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, serta DaVinci Resolve. Hasil penyuntingan menunjukkan bahwa editor tidak hanya menyusun potongan gambar menjadi cerita yang utuh, tetapi juga membangun ritme naratif, memperkuat konflik, dan mendukung penyampaian pesan film. Melalui pemilihan gambar, pengaturan tempo, Color grading, dan penyelarasan audio, film Retak di Atas Meja mampu menghadirkan pengalaman menonton yang lebih emosional, komunikatif, dan mendukung kualitas naratif serta estetika film.
