Abstract

The Universitas Mercu Buana Library plays a crucial role in providing information services for students. However, the high intensity of repetitive inquiries often strains the performance of the library staff. The implementation of conventional chatbots utilizing monolithic architectures is highly susceptible to downtime during single-module failures and tends to be rigid when handling typographical errors (typos) from users. Therefore, this research aims to implement a WhatsApp-based Library Information Service Chatbot utilizing a Node.js-based Microservices architecture. The decoupling of workloads into two independent entities, namely the WhatsApp Gateway and the Core Server API, is designed to isolate computational processes to preserve the reliability and scalability of the network infrastructure. In addition to the network architecture, this system adopts a Hybrid AI approach by integrating two primary algorithms. A Finite State Machine (FSM) is deployed as the routing logic controller for user session states, enabling dynamic transitions between the automated bot mode and a multi-branch live chat mode (Main Campus, Menteng, Warung Buncit). Meanwhile, the Levenshtein Distance algorithm is implemented on the Core Server to provide text recognition tolerance (string matching), ensuring the system responds accurately despite user typing anomalies. The outcome of this implementation is expected to deliver a chatbot architecture that is not only intelligent and flexible but also demonstrates a robust Quality of Service (QoS) and High Availability in managing real-time student message exchange traffic. Perpustakaan Universitas Mercu Buana memiliki peran krusial dalam menyediakan layanan informasi bagi mahasiswa. Namun, tingginya intensitas pertanyaan berulang seringkali membebani kinerja staf perpustakaan. Penggunaan chatbot konvensional dengan arsitektur monolitik rentan mengalami downtime apabila terjadi kegagalan pada satu modul, serta cenderung kaku terhadap kesalahan ketik (typo) dari pengguna. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan Chatbot Layanan Informasi Perpustakaan berbasis WhatsApp dengan mengusung arsitektur Microservices berbasis Node.js. Pemisahan beban kerja menjadi dua entitas mandiri, yaitu WhatsApp Gateway dan Core Server API, dirancang untuk mengisolasi proses agar keandalan (reliability) dan skalabilitas sistem jaringan tetap terjaga. Selain infrastruktur jaringan, sistem ini menerapkan pendekatan Hybrid AI dengan mengintegrasikan dua algoritma utama. Finite State Machine (FSM) digunakan sebagai pengatur logika perutean (routing) status sesi pengguna, yang memungkinkan perpindahan dinamis antara mode bot otomatis dan mode live chat multi-cabang (Pusat, Menteng, Warung Buncit). Sementara itu, algoritma Levenshtein Distance diterapkan pada Core Server untuk memberikan toleransi pengenalan teks (string matching), sehingga sistem tetap dapat merespons dengan akurat meskipun terdapat kesalahan ketik dari pengguna. Hasil dari implementasi ini diharapkan dapat menghasilkan arsitektur chatbot yang tidak hanya cerdas dan fleksibel, tetapi juga memiliki tingkat Quality of Service (QoS) dan High Availability yang mumpuni dalam menangani lalu lintas pertukaran pesan mahasiswa secara real-time.
