Abstract

The increasing mental health problems among adolescents in Indonesia have become a serious challenge that requires healthcare facilities which not only focus on medical treatment but also support psychological and social recovery. Conventional mental hospitals are often perceived as rigid, closed environments that create negative stigma. Therefore, the design of an Adolescent Mental Hospital using a Healing Architecture approach is proposed as a solution to create a more humane and therapeutic healing environment. This project aims to design a mental hospital facility that accommodates the mental healthcare needs of adolescents while applying Healing Architecture principles to create a safe, comfortable, and calming atmosphere. The design method includes literature studies, site analysis, spatial requirement analysis, and precedent studies to develop a contextual and functional architectural concept. The design results indicate that the implementation of Healing Architecture elements, such as natural lighting, cross ventilation, green open spaces, biophilic integration, natural materials and color treatment, as well as user-friendly circulation patterns, can improve the quality of the built environment in supporting the patient recovery process. Through this approach, the mental hospital is expected to function not only as a treatment facility but also as a holistic healing environment that helps reduce social stigma and improve the quality of life of adolescent patients. Meningkatnya permasalahan kesehatan mental pada remaja di Indonesia menjadi tantangan serius yang memerlukan penyediaan fasilitas kesehatan jiwa yang tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek medis, tetapi juga mendukung proses pemulihan psikologis dan sosial. Rumah sakit jiwa konvensional masih sering dipersepsikan sebagai lingkungan yang kaku, tertutup, dan menimbulkan stigma negatif. Oleh karena itu, perancangan Rumah Sakit Jiwa Remaja dengan pendekatan Healing Architecture menjadi solusi untuk menciptakan lingkungan penyembuhan yang lebih humanis dan terapeutik. Tujuan perancangan ini adalah merancang fasilitas rumah sakit jiwa yang mampu mewadahi kebutuhan perawatan kesehatan mental remaja sekaligus menerapkan prinsip Healing Architecture guna menciptakan suasana yang aman, nyaman, dan menenangkan. Metode perancangan dilakukan melalui studi literatur, analisis tapak, analisis kebutuhan ruang, serta kajian preseden untuk menghasilkan konsep desain yang kontekstual dan fungsional. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan elemen Healing Architecture, seperti pencahayaan alami, ventilasi silang, ruang terbuka hijau, integrasi elemen biophilic, pengolahan warna dan material alami, serta pengaturan sirkulasi yang ramah pengguna, mampu meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan binaan yang mendukung proses pemulihan pasien. Dengan pendekatan ini, rumah sakit jiwa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai fasilitas pengobatan, tetapi juga sebagai ruang pemulihan holistik yang berperan dalam mengurangi stigma sosial dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien remaja.
