Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-concept dan authentic online self-presentation pada individu dewasa awal pengguna TikTok di wilayah Jabodetabek yang mengikuti fenomena micro trend fashion. Self-concept didefinisikan sebagai evaluasi individu terhadap dirinya yang mencakup penerimaan diri, persepsi kompetensi, nilai diri, dan kepuasan terhadap karakteristik personal, sedangkan authentic online self-presentation merujuk pada kecenderungan individu menampilkan diri secara jujur, konsisten, dan selaras dengan identitas nyata dalam konteks digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 248 individu dewasa awal berusia 18–25 tahun yang aktif menggunakan TikTok, yang diperoleh melalui teknik non-probability sampling dengan metode accidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala Self-Concept dan dimensi Authentic Self dari Presentation of Online Self Scale for Adults (POSSA). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman Rank karena salah satu variabel tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara self-concept dan authentic online self-presentation (r = 0,103; p < 0,05), yang mengindikasikan bahwa semakin positif konsep diri individu, semakin tinggi kecenderungan mereka menampilkan diri secara autentik di TikTok. Meskipun kekuatan korelasi tergolong rendah, temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa self-concept tetap berperan dalam dinamika presentasi diri digital pada masa dewasa awal. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman empiris bahwa pembentukan konsep diri yang sehat berkaitan dengan kecenderungan individu untuk menampilkan identitas digital yang lebih autentik di tengah tekanan tren media sosial. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-concept and authentic online self- presentation among early adults in Jabodetabek who actively use TikTok and engage in micro fashion trends. Self-concept is defined as an individual’s evaluation of themselves, including self-acceptance, perceived competence, self-worth, and satisfaction with personal characteristics. Authentic online self-presentation refers to the tendency to present oneself honestly and consistently in alignment with one’s real-life identity within digital contexts. This research employed a quantitative correlational design. The sample consisted of 248 early adults aged 18–25 years who actively use TikTok, selected using a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling method. The instruments used were the Self-Concept Scale and the Authentic Self dimension of the Presentation of Online Self Scale for Adults (POSSA). Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation due to non-normal distribution in one variable. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between self-concept and authentic online self-presentation (r = 0.103; p < 0.05), indicating that individuals with a more positive self-concept tend to present themselves more authentically on TikTok. Although the correlation strength was low, the results suggest that self-concept plays a role in shaping digital self-presentation dynamics during early adulthood. Therefore, this study provides empirical evidence that a healthy self-concept is associated with more authentic digital identity expression amid social media trend pressures.
