Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan fear of intimacy berdasarkan attachment style pada dewasa awal. Fear of intimacy merujuk pada kecenderungan individu untuk merasa cemas dan menghindari kedekatan emosional dalam hubungan intim, sedangkan attachment style merupakan pola keterikatan emosional yang mencakup secure, anxious, dan avoidant attachment. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain komparatif terhadap 160 dewasa awal berusia 18–30 tahun yang diperoleh melalui teknik non-probability sampling dengan teknik accidental sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Fear of Intimacy Scale dan Adult Attachment Scale yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Welch ANOVA dan uji lanjut Games–Howell. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan fear of intimacy yang signifikan berdasarkan attachment style (p < 0,05), di mana individu dengan anxious attachment memiliki fear of intimacy tertinggi, diikuti oleh secure attachment, sedangkan avoidant attachment menunjukkan terendah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa attachment style berperan penting dalam membedakan karakteristik fear of intimacy pada dewasa awal. This study aims to examine differences in fear of intimacy based on attachment style in early adulthood. Fear of intimacy refers to an individual’s tendency to experience anxiety and avoid emotional closeness in intimate relationships, whereas attachment style represents patterns of emotional attachment consisting of secure, anxious, and avoidant attachment.This study employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design involving 160 early adults aged 18–30 years, selected through a non-probability sampling method, specifically accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Fear of Intimacy Scale and the Adult Attachment Scale, both of which demonstrated satisfactory validity and reliability. The data were subsequently analyzed using Welch’s ANOVA and the Games– Howell post hoc test.The results indicated a significant difference fear of intimacy based on attachment style (p < 0.05). Individuals with anxious attachment demonstrated the highest level of fear of intimacy, followed by those with secure attachment, while individuals with avoidant attachment exhibited the lowest level. These findings confirm that attachment style plays a significant role in differentiating the characteristics of fear of intimacy in early adulthood.
