Abstract
This research discusses the development of a web-based decision support system to assist users in selecting the type of laptop that will later suit their needs, using the Forward Chaining method. The background of this research is based on the large variety of laptops with different specifications that often make it difficult for users to make the right choice. This research takes a case study at Alfaraby Computer, focusing on Lenovo brand laptops released in 2022, with a Windows operating system, and a price range of IDR 5–20 million. The research method used is descriptive with data collection through observation and literature review. The system is built with PHP (CodeIgniter) and a MySQL database, while the inference logic is arranged in the form of rules based on Forward Chaining. The system classifies laptops into three categories: Entry-level, Mid-level, and High-level, according to specifications and user needs. System testing was conducted using Black-Box Testing in several scenarios, and the results showed that all features work as expected. The system is proven to be able to provide laptop recommendations objectively, efficiently, and accurately based on user needs, thereby helping to speed up the decision-making process. Keywords : Forward Chaining, Laptop, PHP, MySQL Penelitian ini membahas pembangunan sistem pendukung Keputusan yang berbasis web untuk membantu pengguna dalam memilih jenis laptop yang nantinya akan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna, menggunakan metode Forward Chaining. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari banyaknya variasi laptop dengan spesifikasi berbeda yang sering membuat pengguna kesulitan menentukan pilihan yang tepat. Penelitian ini mengambil studi kasus pada Alfaraby Computer dengan fokus pada laptop merek Lenovo keluaran tahun 2022, sistem operasi Windows, dan rentang harga Rp 5–20 juta. Metode penelitian yang akan digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan studi literatur. Sistem dibangun dengan PHP (CodeIgniter) dan basis data MySQL, sedangkan logika inferensi disusun dalam bentuk aturan (rule) berbasis Forward Chaining. Sistem mengklasifikasikan laptop ke dalam tiga kategori: Entry-level, Mid-level, dan High-level, sesuai dengan spesifikasi dan kebutuhan pengguna. Pengujian sistem dilakukan dengan Black-Box Testing pada beberapa skenario, dan hasil menunjukkan seluruh fitur berjalan sesuai harapan. Sistem terbukti mampu memberikan rekomendasi laptop secara objektif, efisien, dan akurat berdasarkan kebutuhan pengguna, sehingga dapat membantu mempercepat proses pengambilan keputusan.
